Subject: Exporting an OBJ from Poser 4 to Bryce with bump- and transmap, HOW????

Can anybody explain this to me please. It has to do with UV mapper and maybe Grouper I understand. But HOW exactly? I have loaded and saved the OBJ in UVmapper. I have converted and saved the resulting file in Grouper (or adding the mtllib line from the poser generated OBJ to that generated by UVmapper). It doesn't work. In Bryce there're still no trans- and bumpmaps loaded. Do I need to adjust the default settings in Poser 4 when I export to OBJ?

Bryce will NOT load transmaps and bump maps automatically for the simple reason that Poser doesn't export them. If you peer into the .mtl file that Poser writes you will see that the transmap is not referenced. So either you have to hack the .mtl file some way or (much better) load the transmap and bump map separately in Bryce. You do NOT need to pass the model through UVmapper. Save yourself some time.

VueMaster fixes Poser's .mtl so that it is complete and can be read by any app, greyscales the .bum maps and converts to .bmp, inverts the trans maps (if needed, and not too large), flips maps (if needed), and places all needed files in one place so there is no browsing. If you are running P3, which doesn't make a .mtl, it will create one for you. The entire process generally takes less than a minute, and has been used with scenes as large as 27MB containing a half dozen characters.
