hello poser people I need some help with raid. I have a raid card running 2 30gig drives on raid 0 and on those 2 drives I have my OS on them. What I want to know is will I have more speed if I put my os on a 3rd hard drive and run it off the mother board and if there is more speed doing it that way will I see it? thanks for any help.

Well, a qualified yes. It really depends on your usage. If you have a program that is large and makes a lot of calls to the OS then Yes put your OS on the separate drive. The reason is that when the program you are using makes a call to the OS the heads have to make a trip back to where the OS resides, then back out to where your program is. Same goes with data. if you a have a lot off disk I/O going on you are better off putting your programs with the OS and your data on your striped drives. The best solution may be to do without the RAID :( and have a HDD for OS, Programs, and data. The highest bandwidth I use is for Digital Video and I'm able to stream in real time off of my non-striped 7200 rpm 2meg cache drives.
