I'd like to suggest that Renderosity either ban entirely, or at least restrict the size of, animated thumbnail images in the Galleries and the Free Stuff section. There is no good reason to have them and they consume extra bandwidth. For people on dialup connections large animated images like these thumbnails take forever to load. It's difficult to bypass them to get to the other images or items. I have supplied a link to an example of this. I'm not criticizing this particular artist or singling him/her out... there are many people who use animated thumbs, which is why I think there needs to be a general policy change. -nemo

I'm generally against rules myself, and tend to like graphics and I'm even on a fast line but this time I think I have to agree with nemo. It makes good sense. Now the question is how hard is it for you to monitor this kind of thing or even auto-prevent it. Having used upload components in the past, the ones I have used have had a feature where you could tell server-side the size of an image uploaded. I'm guessing that would be the best way for you to do this, by setting an image size limit.

The gallery thumbnails have always had a size limit of 15 KB, animated or not. Russell
