I've been considering buying the Poser Pro Pack but I don't have 3dstudio, or the other programs that the Pro Pack has plugins for. Is it worth the $199?

You get motion blur, animated materials, Poser file compression, figure setup (which makes character creation much easier), multi-pane document windows, the ability to import Lightwave models, and python scripts for additional features. Pro Pack also has additional models, textures, poses, and other content, although it's mostly intended for low-poly web content.

ProPak also adds Python Scripting capability. (Didn't impress me much, until I read the description of the PythonScript product in the DAZ market's Software section). THere's a whole separate forum here for Poser Python Scripting (down the margin, under Topic Forums, just above Poser Technical).

Hi Little Dragon: I've got ProPak installed and cannot import ".lwo's". I get an error message everytime. .Obj's import fine. Have you had any problems with .lwo's???

You will also be able to create Web content with Pro Pack. It has exporters for Flash and VET, and I'm currently working on the Shockwave3D exporter for Poser Pro Pack. Python is incredibly powerful and IMHO underrated because it hasn't been really explored yet.

movida: I've had problems importing .lwo's in Poser also, but in my case it was a problem with the LightWave exporters in my modeling utility. I think the format changed from one version of LightWave to another. I don't normally use .lwo; I prefer .obj or .3ds.
