Subject: Does anyone remember... (about a tip posted in galleries)

Who it was that posted the postwork tip in the galleries for making a render soft... along the lines of what Debbie M does to her renders? They said you duplicate the layer and do something, but I can't remember who it was to look up the tip again. Or does someone know how to do it that's willing to share the technique?

Sure, I know how it works.

In photoshop, duplicate the layer, apply a gaussian blur (need to experiment on the size of the blur-the bigger the picture, the bigger the blur, generally) and then change the layer modes to get different effects.

Oops, forget to mention.. sometimes you might need to change the opacity of the second blurred layer to lighten the effect.

Another interesting trick along these lines is to blur a normal render, then import this into Poser as the background image & then render a Depth-Cued layer on top. Yields a "depth-of-focus" effect. (a lame sample from P3 days, but it shows the effect:)
