Hello everyone and Happy New Year ! Even though I am pretty tired to see snow all over when I look outside, I decided to do a snow scene :) Can someone help me or point me to a tutorial for making snow on a Vue tree ? Thank you very much for your help :)

Just me again, actually they aren't really tuts, more like discussions that happened here on the forum, but I found them to be helpful, I hope you do too. (: Genny

Hey Odyssey, I just did one recently for the Cherry tree. Have a look at the link. If your interested in it I can send it to you. Rich

Rich, you always make such beautiful images :) I would love to have your snow texture to study it, I tried one with the winter pear tree and the fir tree ... The pic will show you where I am right now with my attempt of playing with snow. Comments are welcome :)

Wow, that's cool! I really love the warm lighting against the cold snow. I do wonder how the sled and that enormous snowman were placed where they are without disturbing any of the snow around them. Also that snowman is huge! It had to have taken rolling around the entire yard, and erecting some kind of ladder to get the hat on top, etc. As far as the snow itself, it looks like snow. :)

Thank you Varian :) I always have trouble with proportions.......LOL I will modify it and you are right about the rest too..... I will work on that :) Elaine

Hey, looking great Elaine! I like the nice warm glow of the house! I think your snowy tree texture looks good, but your welcome to mine, just let me know where to send it. Which brings me to a problem though. Varian, do you thint its OK to send the .mat file even though it makes use of the default cherry tree bark texture or would I have to provide the snow texture and write out the mix? Thanks for the compliment too, Elaine! :) BTW-If you meant the ground snow texture, I'll send that as well. Rich

Here it is :) I posted my final render of my Winter scene in the Gallery. Thank you everyone for your help on this :) Elaine

Rich, my guess is that it would be okay since that material is one that comes with Vue 4, and it will be in a Vue 4 format...so only folks who already have v.4 would be able to use it. Nice work on the final, Elaine! Now you'll have to share a tutorial with us as to how you worked the prints in the snow. :)

Hello :) Thank you very much for the nice comments :) As for the footprints, I placed my terrains and then edited each one I wanted footprints on in the terrain editor. In the Painting section, i unchecked airbrush style then I adjusted the bruch size to its minimum, tweaked the softness and strenght until I got something that looked like very little holes, and then the fun began with about 100 clicks of the mouse........LOL Hope this helps :) Elaine
