Subject: Few questions on morphs and texture maps...

All apologies if these questions have been asked to death in this forum... I'm starting to get the hang of everything but just have a few questions. I have downloaded a couple of morphs that I havent figured out how to use yet. Those files go into Geometries right? Also, I can never seem to get my texture maps to look exactly as they were intended. Is this a normal thing that I will have to practice at or have I loaded them incorrectly? Thank you!

heyas; if the morph targets are in obj format... no, they dont go in geometries. you can put them anywhere you like, in a temporary spot. you have to load them onto your figure from within poser. load the figure, select the body part the morph goes with, and hit ctrl-i for the body part info. you should see a button that says 'add morph target.' hit that, find your obj, and give it a name. repeat to load all the targets. you must save the figure back to the poser library to have it remember the morphs. what's wrong with your texture maps? if they look blotchy and icky in poser, remember to render them. the texture preview mode is a low-res texture preview. if they come out too dark, make sure you change the object base colour to white. poser will multiply the texture with the object base colour. if you can't get stuff aligned right, you might want to try painting on the model. if you have poser 4, there's a version of painter 3d on there you can use. somewhere on the extras disk. there's a tutorial on p3d at my site... i think. (i seem to remember writing one...)

Oh, these questions might be a bit hard to answer without more detail up front. I'd say many artists who contribute morphs might tell you where to install them. Look for a readme file. As for the texture maps looking right, there can be a trick to all that. In some cases you need to go to Materials, and reset all the colors to white, then apply the texture maps. Since I don't know exactly what you need, let me give you a link to my "primer tutorial" on textures.

Morphs have to be added after the character they are intended for are loaded into Poser. Morph target objects are for specific body parts such as the face (head) or breasts (chest). You can put them anywhere you wish as you tell Poser where to find them. Morphs only work on the character they were spawned from, such as the P4 Nude woman or Vickie, etc. Load your character, the click on the body part for the morph, then go to the menu, Object, Load Morph Target. Find the morph object, then name it for the Poser dial and click OK. If it is not for that part or character Poser will give you an error message about different vertices, etc. Hope that helps. As far as textures, what type textures and what problems are you having? More detail would help get you the right answers.

This info was great you guys managed to answer all of my questions. The texuture maps were set to black and I think that must have been why everything came out so dark. The info on morphs were great as well. thanks a ton!!! :) :) :)
