Attached Link: Celebration

The member voting ends today. The 'runner-ups' are usually forgotten, at this point... .. but I have grown attached to the collection that resulted from this contest. I was inspired to make this presentation as a tool to help people effortlessly view the submissions. I think of it now, more as a celebration of the artists who shared their vision. thank you all

I know you mean well and its a really slick presentation, but one of the rules for the contest was: "Image must not appear online anywhere else during contest voting." I'm sure this was meant towards the individual artists, but nonetheless it still applies?

I've been conferring with audre, regarding methods of helping the community to better view the entries. I also have an image in the contest. I acknowledge that it could be disqualified. This is basically a submission to the unborn Renderosity Magazine - online version . This was started a week ago, to aid voters. I was having trouble viewing the submissions. This is designed to work for people with dial-up connections. It's been suggested that a hi-rez, faster version of the presentation be included on the CD that comes with the magazine. Would a presentation like this help you to select your favorite image, in future contests? I think that being 'immortalized' in a presentation like this might also draw more entries for future contests.

Very slick Flash presentation and it certainly is the easiest way to view the images. I have gone over the images many, mant times and I saw some that I had missed. Good idea!

It is a good way, but too slow. It will better to get directly to the end selection. So the viewer can see all images at its speed.

Thanks for the comments. The menu will be available instantly on the CD version... and it will run faster with higher resolution images. As far as the web version, you can only accomplish so much... ... In order to deliver 135 images without subjecting the visitor to any loading screens, you can't devote any of your resources to anything but streaming those images in sequence. The buttons for each 'page' become available after that page is displayed. Once the movie has loaded into your cache however, you can often return to the webpage and click on the copyright logo and it will display the menu page without having to load any images. I've also got software, that I developed (the Showcaser), that will allow anyone to 'swap' their images into any of my presentations. You are able to create a smooth running web gallery, or create a high resolution, faster running presentation for CD or broadband uses. You don't even need to have the Flash software.

I like the sound of that. I've been (slowly) working on a website with the main content looking as if its going to be mostly pictures. Although I'm fond of traditional web galleries, having the option of a showcasing one is really useful.

I removed the Showcaser link from my sites, because I wasn't willing to provide 'support' for it. I'm considering taking a few clients. Once I build a custom template for their needs, they can use the Showcaser software to create numerous versions of their presentation. I'll make it available to the general public at that time too. (maybe I'll make you my beta tester?) It could be something that other Flash developers might also enjoy creating templates for? I think that our 3D artists can also make some great interfaces for the presentations. You can see the original presentation here: Showcaser .. but please don't order it. I'm not making it available at this time and am refusing paypal payments from people who are finding that page.
