I don't know, but I think even the epson has a LONG way to go before it can compete with the 200+ years of permanence of a selenium toned black and white fiber base print : ) Although I would HIGHLY reccommend epson for any inkjet or "desktop" printing that needs archival quality. I only have an OLD epson stylus photo, it is FAR FAR FAR from being archival, but the quality of print even with black and white and duotone is way better than that of other printers of "equal" caliber. ....Maybe if it is not too expensive, you could have your images output to film, then make an acutal print from those digital negatives. just thought I'd throw some ideas into the mix.

Alpha, have you explored the MIS Quadtone inks for B/W? I've been looking at alternatives and these have been recommended several times by b/w photographers. There is also a mail list for digital printers of b/w-- http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/?yguid=1475141Attached Link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/?yguid=1475141
Since the URL is long for the b/w mail list, here it isThis site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Our own cookies make user accounts and other features possible. I'm not in a BIG hurry, but I'm considering LOL (everyone says this time of year is the time for 'announcements' and the printer folks are coming out semiannually with great new printers, so....). I really want a larger format printer, but I would also like archival. I have sold some prints, but in these cases, I am not uncomfortable with the 25 years on HWM under glass (Epson). However, I may put some in a gallery and having worked with galleries with my textile work where I was very concerned with longevity, etc.---I am thinking about this. I do a great deal of b/w and duotones. The printer that has the best archivability is the Epson 2000P---which is not recommended for b/w or monotones. Has anyone here tried to print b/w with it?? Alpha---what has happened with your Piezography with the 1270 (??) That's a fairly expensive system, but I have been following the printers on ebay and that might be doable. I'm just looking for some solutions. I don't want to send them out---I want 'control' LOL.Diane
PS-I haven't linked to my photo site for awhile-- so....
