Here's the re-worked version.....greyscaled, but bringing the hands back into color. Looks like a plain old boring image of a playstation. Oh well, I'll guess I'll scrap this one and keep on trying to find that perfect hand shot. I still like the other, but like everyone said the focus is too much on the controller.

I am, therefore I create.......

Yeah, this one just looks like the PS2's controller... did you try another color on the first one? Maybe something less vivid would work? - darkpen

Interesting idea though. And good photoshop technique in selecting the hands vs the controller. I've always wished for three more thumbs while playing these things. Maybe a multiple exposure with motion blur? Don't know if that would make a better contest picture, but could be fun to do.

I like Misha's idea...a bit of an action shot!

Well ...I like more the other picture ...but yes, this not working ..:( Go on shooting ! ( uhmm ... master work in selecting hands in Photoshop ! wow !)

Scenty, do I detect a hint of sarcasm?!? lol I dunno, getting that hand selection sorted and then fading out the controller a bit so it isn't so 'black' might work....the colour of the controller is still powerful and distracting, just needs watered down..... (",)

Not really sarcastic .. I am not really very able to select even with the magnetic tool. :( A:

I hate the selection tools.....very rarely use them...what I did with this is make 2 layers of the original background, desaturated one, then I used a feathered brush and the eraser tool to erase the parts that I want to show thru.

I am, therefore I create.......

Thanks for explaining. Your tichnique seems to work really well!

Actually a motion shot would VERY interesting in my opinion. But unfortunately it may not do well in the contest because or the lack of clarity. Why don't you do both selection tools AND eraser to get the controol and speed? That's what I do. BTW. You should be able to select the controoler only with the magnetic tool and mask it! Then you can adjust the saturation ect of the hand then repaste the controoler as a seperate laver then play with it saturation ect. Bsteph
