Just wanted to let everyone know about a gallery feature we have called the Hot 20. Basically if you see an image in the Poser gallery that you really like, vote for it. The top 20 of those voted for will appear in the Poser "Hot 20" area of the Gallery. Thanks. -JeffH.

Marcabros ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:00 PM

well i guess there is something wrong with the hot 20 if i see just garbage from the pink pony in there. i don't think that the real good artist giving any vote for this kindergarden shit....so please let us know what is wrong there. thanx

JeffH ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:06 PM

Apparently many of our members voted for those pictures. Please vote for the ones you like. -Jeff

Marcabros ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:15 PM

i guess not then this is the most biggest garbage i ever have seen on Rosity and this is not art work. sorry i'm voting for pics i like but this is boring if i see such shit in the top 20

Penguinisto ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:16 PM

One man's sh!t is another man's art... If you don't like the pink ponies (trust me, it doesn't float my boat either), then vote for the ones you want. Cast yer lot and takes yer chances... /P

I'm a pretty good artist, and I've voted for several pink pony images. I like them, they are very ironic, satirical, yet somehow pure and sweet at the same time. They work on a lot of levels. Marcabros, I wonder if anyone could describe your work as "shit"? If anyone is on the kindergarden side of things... -WTB

VirtualSite ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:20 PM

Marcabros, if you dont like what you see in there, vote. All the rants and raves about it being shit and garbage isnt going to change its presence in there one bit. Now I suggest you exercise that power you have since you loathe this stuff so much and find something you think should replace it.

Marcabros ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:22 PM

well that's every ones opinion. my opinion is that this is pure garbage. if anyone describe my work as kindergarden shit i can live with this :))

Jim Burton ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:24 PM

That is the bottom line fokes, if you want to see what you like in the Hot 20, vote for it! Most of the time it only takes 8-10 votes to get into the Hot 20, click on that little button when you see something you like, your vote does count!

Marcabros ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:25 PM

Photopium ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:29 PM

Hmmm, taking a look at Marcabros gallery... Almost exclusively "Hot 20ish" soft focus Vickies wearing headgear of some kind. Awwwww, someone bumped from the precious hot 20? JEALOUS MUCH??? Waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -WTB

ScottA ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:30 PM

This is not C&D. We will not debate what is "shit" and what's not here. Currently the #1 image only has 68 votes. So If you don't like the Ponies. Vote for something else. That's what I did. ScottA

Cin- ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:31 PM

LOL Thank you Jeff! You just said exactly what I was thinking... VOTE! If you don't like the pink Pony then vote for something else... vote for me if you don't have anything else to vote for... yesterday I posted what is in my oppinion, the best pin up image I've ever made... and yeah, I know, not everyone likes pin ups, but it's had over 300 views in just one day... not much when you look at what some of the 'big names' get in one day, but it's a lot for me, and I've had a lot of good feedback on it... it made my day to see someone say "When I see "Cin-", I look, 'cause I know it's gonna be good. Still not disappointed. :)" That to me means more than being in the hot20... but if you don't like the pony, well then, vote for my pin up. LOL I'm sure I'll catch hell for this post, but I think that the whole pink pony thing has proven a point... everyone complains about how the hot20 works, but how many times have you voted? I vote for images I like everyday just about... every now and then one of them will make it into the hot20, but not very often... so if you don't like what's there, then vote for the things you like... there's something like 70,000 members now, with normally around 1,000 online at any given time, yet the #1 spot in the hot20 was voted there by less than 100 votes.

VirtualSite ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:31 PM

They dont seem to be getting the bottom line, Jim. Pretty sad.

Penguinisto ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:32 PM

Marcabros - unless you have something constructive to say about the items themselves, perhaps some opinions are best kept to yourself; be polite and all that. /P

ronknights ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:32 PM

I think this is all pretty silly. I dug around the Galleries and didn't even see a link for Hot 20. I know it's supposed to exist because you can choose to vote for it when you look at someone's gallery images. I wonder why it's so hard to find the Hot 20?! OK, if people feel the need to vote for pictures, and give them ranks, fine. If you care about such things, then you should respect the votes of others. Otherwise, just forget the Hot 20. I never give a ranking to anyone's pictures any more. If I like a picture I will write some good, positive comments. If for some reason I don't like a picture, I will either post nothing, or some constructive criticism. I don't care whether any of my pictures get the Hot 20, or if I get a "good score." I don't even allow for a Numerical rating" in my new pictures. I do appreciate the supportive words of my friends here... And I do my best to let you know it. Ron

ScottA ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:37 PM

Yeah...you have point Ron. It is kinda hard to find if you don't know where to look. Anyone who would like to Vote should go to the Poser gallery section first. The Hot20 link will be listed there. You only get one vote per person. So make sure you vote for the one you like. ScottA

Momcat ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:41 PM

"You only get one vote per person. So make sure you vote for the one you like." Really? I've been able to vote for several images that I felt were deserving.

Penguinisto ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:43 PM

I take back what I said about the pony images not floating my boat - I just saw what Jim Burton did with one and damned near fell out of the chair laughing... That's some pure distilled comedy in there :) /P

Dolphins-Dream ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:49 PM

But is it about the Poser Hot 20 and people being ticked or is it the mere fact that people seem to DISRESPECT what's in the Poser Hot 20??

Mel

Suppose what we call "evidence' (the things we believe to be true) is only what we see because it is the only thing we know to look for?

Here it is.

JeffH ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:49 PM

One vote per image, yes.

VirtualSite ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:50 PM

Mom, the "thank you for voting" window will come up no matter how many times you hit the vote button, but its only your first vote that counts.

Momcat ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:55 PM

That's still per image though, right? I can understand limiting one vote per person per image so you don't have ballot stuffing, but I should be able to vote for as many images as I please and have my votes count. Also, is there a limit on how many images I can vote for per day? Perhaps a posting by the staff here of the specific rules of the Hot 20 galleries (there is one for each media gallery?)is in order.

JeffH ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 2:56 PM

I'm not aware of any limits other than one vote per image.

ronknights ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 3:08 PM

Hah, someone obviously has a different Renderosity screen than me. I've posted my screen, and there clearly is no Top 20 there. I must say after all this controversy, I don't miss it.

ScottA ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 3:16 PM

If you click on "Poser" that page should update and add "PoserHot20" to the list right next to "View Random". ScottA

ronknights ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 3:28 PM

Oh, you're right. But let me be plain here. I don't care about numerial ratings or "popularity contests." I fail to see why so many people are being so over-excited and abusive over something like the Hot 20. I would rather do my art for its own sake. Yes, I love to get good, supportive comments and constructive criticism from my friends. If you want the Hot 20, you can have it. If someone wants a feud over the Hot 20, let them keep it to that arena, and away from the rest of us. Ron

angola ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 3:40 PM

Could the Top 20 get better launch publicity than this? The Pink Ponies? Somebody trying to be creative and refreshing rather than refining their technique? Why they should be banned. angola

Marcabros ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 3:46 PM

well people don't be stupid ok.....we know that is someting going on there and that a group calls themself Joke Patrol starting this bullshit, just to make trouble. guess this kinda idiots are full of jealousy cuz they can't make any good art work but like to make trouble. It's a shame that we have on many communs this kinda folks and i don't understand that Rosity doesn't stop them :(

ScottA ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 3:46 PM

Shhhhh angola. Don't say the B word. ;-) Right now it's a simple matter of choice. If like the ponies. Vote for em'. If you don't. Vote for something else. As long as it stays there. And doesn't spill out into the rest of the site. We won't need to use that ugly B word. ScottA

mi-scha ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 3:50 PM

What a luck, now we have Magic Pink Pony (TM) threads in the Poser Forum also. :P
I will migrate to the Poser Python Scripting Forum, that should be untouched from the MPP craze.

SkyeWolf ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 3:54 PM

Ugh...this whole mess is disgusting....personally until this mess with the pink pony (no it does not float my boat and my own personal opinion is that it's not that good but that's just my opinion, no malice intended) I hadn't ever set foot into the Poser Hot 20. Then today when trying to leave a comment for one of my favorite artists, I had discoverd she no longer allowed comments because he had been personally verbally attacked because something she had done made it INTO the Hot 20. What's up with that? I thought it was supposed to be come kind of honor? I for one hope my work NEVER shows up in the hot 20. I'm not even sure why I let people rank my artwork because I never look at it. All I ever look at are my comments because those are what matter to me. After this I will probably never set virtual foot in the top 20 again. I enjoy browsing the "What's New" poser gallery and that's what I will continue to do. and When something makes me go "WOW" then I will leave a comment. I refuse to participate in voting for the Poser Hot 20.

I'd just like to point out that the pink ponies are by no means the limit of the Pink Pony artist's (Dr. Legume's) talent. Do check out the man's gallery. The Pink Ponies are there for a reason! (I love the Magic Pink Pony)

JeffH ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 3:56 PM

This thread is not about the MPP, it's about a gallery feature that many of our members are unaware of.

The strongest message being that each of us has the power to vote for what we really like.

-JH.

Jim Burton ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 4:15 PM

Ron- no, actually you need the secret decoder ring to see the Hot 20 link - you did get it out of the wheat Chex box, didn't you ;-) Incidently, as all the regulars know, but it should be said- each gallery has its own Hot 20, there is no "overall" one, thus no link from the All Gallery page.

PJF ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 4:15 PM

"This thread is not about the MPP..." LOL, maybe not directly, but excuse me if I doubt that you'd have posted this here without the ongoing Magic Pink Pony 'controversy'. ;-) Whetever the reason, it's a good message (maybe you should put a top of the page note up for a while). No 'group' owns the Hot20; it's there for everyone. Your vote is anonymous, and it really does count. The last few days have usefully shown that there is no admin conspiracy to promote certain images and artists (another tiresome complaint about the Hot20) - the only thing that gets an image in there is sufficient votes. Don't forget the other specialist galleries have Hot20 systems too, and they're usually worth a look.

ronknights ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 4:25 PM

Hah I've had enough. None of this is worth one iota of our physical or emotional energy. People who leave nasty comments in someone's gallery are very immature children. They should be ignored or spanked. Leave the Hot 20 to the children, and just enjoy doing your artwork. I won't revisit this thread. It's not worth my time. If you respond to this message, I guarantee you I won't read it. Ron

Strangechilde ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 4:46 PM

Don't blame you an ounce, Ron. Oh, but you won't know that! :) First of all a retraction; it seems Legume has pulled his other work from his gallery. A shame, as much of it was extremely good. Second, much though it may be true, I don't like the notion of a 'group' 'owning' the Top 20. I don't tend to vote for Top 20; when I find a piece that really says something to me, I like to leave a comment for the artist, but once or twice I've actually clicked the buttonmostly because the piece was so good I wanted others to see. For whatever reason, Legume has undertaken the Pink Pony series. Now, they may not be technically brilliant, but they do say something, and that has always been a goal of art to be a voice. To speak out. It seems that Legume's message has been heard loud and clear: witness the amount of board space this is taking. Now, if people want to leave Renderosity over the 'corruption' of the Top 20, or if people want to call Legume a string of ridiculous names (and the next time I hear 'gay' used derogatively, I may vomit) or threaten him with death (!), I charge these people, if they consider themselves artists, to be more cognizant of the history of their profession. Long Live the Magic Pink Pony.

VirtualSite ( ) posted Mon, 28 January 2002 at 4:51 PM

cuz they can't make any good art work If one were of a bitchy frame of mind, one might look at the wooden expressions in your own work and question just how "good" it is. Perhaps, instead of whining about the Hot 20, you might put the time to better use by learning more about the program and its capabilities? If you dont like the images in the Hot 20, then I suggest you vote for something else. Its really that simple. And forgive me if I follow Ron out of this thread.

I think it's great that Legume is owning the Hot 20. He got slammed for doing controversial figures a while back, so now he's doing images that are nothing but light, innocent fun. He posts them, and the masses put him in the Hot 20. Now people are slamming his work and throwing out all kinds of hateful bile. The man has done absolutely nothing wrong, yet still he gets a rash of crap from people, so it's great to see him slowly assimilate the entire Hot 20. I hope he gets every slot! The moral of the story is - Don't F*ck with Legume.

You all complaining about the pink pony really need a chill pill. Anyone that knows legume has always known that he is sick, demented, twisted human being and his artwork has always reflected that. And in by doing so has always always managed to get people to look...and look they have. They may not have liked what they saw but by god they looked. Get off your high horses, excuse the pun, about the pink pony and look really look at the humor of it all. Thats what its there for. And legume...thanks for making such and entertaining come back!!!

After reading through I had to go check out The Hot 20, I found it on the first try (no offense Ron). Ok sure, the Pink Pony concept is ... well it just is. But time and talent went into the creation of the pieces. We all put effort into our works and that's what makes them special.

I was glad to see two of my favorite artists had works there also (go DebbieM. and Sinsister).

So if you're whining about the content VOTE and spare us the noise.
