Maybe my tutorial will help you, this always seems the best way to create a poseable figure, which is what it is called, not a prop. A prop does not have articulate parts. Download my tutorial. SharenAnother thing that you can do, just to fix the problem of Poser's group tool being nearly useless, is get UV Mapper from free stuff. UV mapper can see materials and groups if they are there, that is if you exported them successfully. You can use uv mapper to assign a material to a group or vice versa. It's very handy for fixing the uv map problems that Max always seems to have in the exports too.

Im trying to export my 3DS file into poser in order to create a poser figure I can animate. Im using Studio Max 4.0 and I installed the MaxToObj plug-in. I did this because I needed to keep the group names when I imported the 3DS figure into Poser (PPP). The 3DS looked fined (Color was correct) but using the Poser Group tool without the original Group/parts name is not doable (and I need this to assign to the bones etc.). So I went the OBJ way. After I figured out how to flip the Z axis to Y (3DS to OBJ issue) my next problem was keeping my colors. I expect this not to be a problem because OBJ has a MTL file that should do the trick but no. I must not be doing something right. I need some help (or tutorial) on how I can keep my colors in my OBJ figure. Thanks Oarman
