I was running XP pro and installed Carrara without the 1.1 updater from Eovia.(first mistake) I tried to run in compatibility mode when I first got this error to see if it would work while I was waiting on the updater from Eovia. (second mistake should have been patient) After applying the Patch I still got the error and started uninstalling and reinstalling several times getting more frustrated every time.(third mistake getting mad never helps) Finally after reiunstalling checked properties of the .exe file and realized that XP was still trying to run in compatibilty mode. No compatibilty mode with Carrara 1.1 = success
