Subject: 2d to 3d via tablet; Possible?

Was planning on experimenting with modeling via rds. I have a wacom tablet and was wondering if tracing the image in the free-form modeler and then rendering would result in a 3d image of same. Stupid newbie question, but I'm still more comfortable with a pen then with computer apps for drawing. Thanks in advance for comments/suggestions! Abe.

Errr....well I'm not sure I understand exactly what your asking, but no, drawing a 2D image will not render in 3D. It will in the sence that you can rotate the lines you've drawn, but the image will have no depth. And there are very few tools you can acutally "draw" free form with in modeling apps. You could use the wacom as a wicked tool for texturing on a 3D surface with Deep paint 3D, but you cant't model with it really. Hope that answers your question.

depends really ,there are some graphics programmes where you can use a pressure sensitive tablet to sculpt, but i show my inexperience by not knowing which ones, sorry.but if your hoping to draw some mad character and have him turn into a 3dmodel nope ,no way.

{sigh) Was afraid of that. Looks like I'm gonna have to do it the hard way like everybody else here. Thanks you both, Booth and Modulok for the input! Abe
