I have a figure with transmapped hair. The default .rsr file does not show the rendered hair. How do I create my own .rsr files? I don't have ProPack, just poser4. Is there some utility which will allow you to convert say a .bmp file to an .rsr file?

Well, I'll answer my own question. In the free stuff area I found the rsr convert program, which does the trick. [Tim]

Ahh... you are in luck. Search Freestuff here for RSR Converter. This is a nifty little windows program! i use it lots. Render the item you want in a 500 x 500 pixel window in Poser, and export the render to a Mac PICT file (File->Export... menu). Now open the PICT file in Photoshop or other paint program, invert the alpha mask, reduce the file to 91 x 91 pixels, and apply a bit of unsharp mask to make it crisper. (There's a Photoshop action for this in Freestuff too, or i could post mine, for that matter.)Now save out the smaller image as a PICT file. Start up RSR Converter. It has 2 text boxes in it--one for the path to the file you just made, and one for the RSR file you want to replace (or create, if you didn't have one). Just browse to the appropriate places & click OK, and it's done. Once you get this down, you'll never use default RSR's again. --Nan

You can also make really neat .rsr's this way: 1. render an image, make sure it's a square (500x500, 600x600 etc) 2. take the image to Photoshop, do postwork, add text, whatever you want 3. import the new image to Poser background 4. hide the figure and ground plane 5. save for example a pose -> you'll get a fantastic .rsr 6. rename the .rsr to match the .cr2's (or poses or whatever) name.
