Okay, I would like to give texing my own clothes a shot but how in the word do you know what is what on those clothing templates?? To me the lines all run together. Am I hopeless and should just not bother???

One thing I do sometimes is open up the clothing item in Poser and apply the template as a texture to get an idea of where some of the lines run. If you can find one of the seam guides to use, that could be even more helpful, because various zones are colored in.

you can make color coded templates in uvmapper "settings-color-by material" that may help as well
