I just got Poser, and actualy i am new to it. Can anyone tell me where to find some tutorials on how to make new chars, monsters...etc... Thanks in advanced.

you're in the right place, just have a look at the menu at the top of the page and click on tutorials and there's loads ready for you

Or you can always search the net with one of those nifty search sites (like www.google.com) for stuff like "Poser 4 tutorial" or stuff like that. You should get a handful of sites which offer tutorials that way.

Creating brand new characters is not easy in Poser. Oftentimes, you can find a lot of morphs that will get you started in customizing existing characters. Most character creators use a different program than Poser and then bring it into Poser. The only way to do it inside Poser is to use magnets to morph an existing character. (Personally, I hate Poser magnets, but some people like using them.)

Get comfortable and familiar with Poser first. This will give you the basics of clothing and shaping a body to convey whatever image you have in mind... and some of the limitations. Certain characters such as Michael and Victoria (from DAZ3d) have a lot more morph targets and are far more customizable. Then you can see how people are pushing the envelope and look for specific tutorials to cover each point. For example, Kozaburo of DigitalBabes makes some of the best hair around, and he has tutorials on his site so you can make your own. Jaager and a couple of other mathematically-minded folks are working with magnets and joint controls and such so that when a body part moves it looks like there is a real muscle and mass behind it. If you want to do monsters look at Traveler's MorphWorld3 site to get some ideas for freakish bodyparts (he also does lovely work). For clothing, PhilC has a tutorial CD packed with information. PoserArcana has lots of tutorials including some good ones on lighting. Basically, hang around these forums with your eys open and ears flapping and you'll discover all sorts of useful information and leads and answers. Carolly

One more Q, maybe someone knows it here....i am working with maya..and when i export Poser anim, i get like 60 .obj files. Does anyone know the easy way to turn it to Maya animation? For now i have to load every frame..and do alot of work before i get same animation like in Poser. Thanks :)

Talk to Curious Labs. We do need a plug-in for Maya as well as the existing ones for Max and Lightwave (in Pro-Pack. The more of us who ask for it, the better the odds that they will work on it. :)
