The sights of the Death Star's cannons were targeted squarely at Earth. Soon, that verdant blue sphere would be naught but space dust. Darth Vader sensed that on this planet, there dwelt a man in whom the Force was as strong as it was within himself. He could hear the voice of this man in his head, summoning him.

Face to face these titans met, and each knew that the power of the Force alone would not be enough for either man to vanquish the other. And so these mighty ones faced each other in a time-honored contest...an armadillo race from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas, with the fate of Earth hanging in the balance!

TygerCub ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 2:22 AM

Um... okay.... Where'd ya get the cool armadillo figure?

Puntomaus ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 3:09 AM

:-)))) I hope Darth Vader wins - but the race is sure unfair, the TMFKAJ has a bigger Armadillo.

MikeJ ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 3:29 AM

Salt Lake City to Las Vegas? Now, I know that wasn't an accident or an arbitrary association, right? Somehow I get the impression that you are far more aware than you "advertise"....

thgeisel ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 3:42 AM

HHmm, not shure about the man on the right. He casts no shadow, maybe something like Dracula??But vampirs hate the sun.Or the spirit of the Pink Pony?Perhaps thats the mystery of this image??

gorak33 ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 4:06 AM

umm...I'm not Christian or anything, but I'm pretty sure it's sacriligious to show Jesus riding an armadillo... And why is Jesus' armadillo bigger? That's a bit of an unfair advantage...

leather-guy ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 4:07 AM

Heheheheheheheheheheheheheheh! Beauty!

lelionx ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 4:26 AM

before i read the story the first thing that popped into my mind was hunter s. thompson & dr.gonzo.almost fell out of my seat when i read they're going to las vegas.jc's&darth's adventure has all the possibilities of being even more warped than "fear and loathing in las vegas".oh!boy! this isn't going to be pretty.

ronknights ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 6:01 AM

The figure on the right is Jesus. Wow now you've opened yourself up to the righteous wrath of fanatical christians. That's pretty risky business, creating a satire involving Jesus. Oh boy..... Ron

STORM3 ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 7:39 AM

Brings to mind Chris De Burgh's song about Jesus and Satan playing poker for the souls of the dead on that train. Nice one Doc. ;0) "That's pretty risky business, creating a satire involving Jesus." Yea, only a fine artist would risk it. Art is much more than pretty images of Vicky and Mike. It is about messages, ideas and exploring feelings and reactions in ourselves. An artist that can do this and is willing to take on the wrath of the shortsighted and blinkered detractors is someone to watch. Some will see this merely as the Doc playing with the "shock value", but as I have learned over the years of "being shocked" by his art, there is a thinking mind at work and a deep honesty and consistency in his art. This could become one of your classics Doc. STORM

ronknights ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 7:52 AM

Are we talking about the same artist here?! Legume?!

STORM3 ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 8:08 AM

Ron you been here a few months. In that time we have all got to know you through your endless posts and replies on every subject. One wonders where you get the time? Legume has been here since Willow ran this place, over 3 years ago. He has been a Mod here and at Renderotica, he has been producing fine Poser art since long before you probably first heard of Poser. You might not like what he does, fair enough. But since when did you become the Admin, the moral authority and arbitrator of this site? Have I missed something in some of your many posts? I and a considerable number of other members would like to know the answer to that question. STORM

I've got the popcorn and twizzlers, can someone bring some Mt Dew... this is going to be a good show.

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

JDexter ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 8:33 AM

Wouldn't Armadillo hide hurt bare legs? Now who has the disadvantage?

Impudicus Rex ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 8:52 AM

I don't think he got all banged up from the armadillo, JDexter... :)~

STORM3 ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 9:12 AM

Vador is wisely wearing armour. Trying to ride an Armadillo might be a dangerous business particularly if the Armadillo was not being co-operative. Look at the claws. :0)

nikitacreed ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 9:48 AM

Doc....you are most definitely a nut. heheheheh ;o)

VirtualSite ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 10:15 AM

Well, obviously, with his non-shadow-casting mass, JC is gonna win this one easy -- the poor armadillo that has to bear DV and all his plug-ins and add-ons simply doesn't stand a chance, and I trust DV knows not to whip him to a gallop using a light sabre. Heh heh - this is like that old web site, the WWWF...

Moonbiter ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 10:16 AM

You know "Christ on an armadillo!" doesn't flow off the tounge like "Christ on a pony!". You're setting a very bad example when you mess with established slang like that Legume :) Anyway my money is on Darth, cause armadillo's have nothing on pod racing.

Legume ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 10:59 AM

Jesus casts a shadow! Sure, most of it's merged with the armadillo's shadow, but you can plainly see the shadow of his arm right above my copyright... Y'know, Jesus' armadillo doesn't have a name. Anyone care to play "Name That Armadillo"?

STORM3 ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 11:05 AM

"Hitler" Put a little swastica armband on him as well! ;0)

I'm betting it's yet another transformation of the 9Lives Cat. =)

MikeJ ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 11:33 AM

How about "Magdalene"? For the name that is.

STORM3 ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 11:37 AM

Take a look at the Hardware Forum Guys and Girls. Ron has just invaded it! A comment on nearly every thread there, all posted today! Next its going to be the Tavern. Someone pass me a Vicky helmet quick. ;0)

Legume ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 11:43 AM

Mike, I can't name the armadillo Magdalene, because my friend Magdalene might get insulted...but I think I've got the PERFECT name. One that'll really rock the boat. "Willow Armadillo".

MikeJ ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 11:55 AM

LOL!

VirtualSite ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 11:58 AM

Boy, where's Barry Manilow when you need him? Her name was Willow, She was an armadillo, From Salt Lake to Vegas she ran, On her back she bore the Man. With her friend by her (He had no name yet), Over hill and dale they strode, Unaware of their fearsome load... Until they lost their freight... Somewhere on the Interstate... Now they run wild and unfettered and free... And the problem is humanity's... (everybody!) Her name was Willow! She was an armadillo!.....

ronknights ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 1:41 PM

I don't see a single screenshot here.

Virus ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 1:46 PM

This is just another pitty efford to let the community how twist someone could have the head. I'm disagree with this Image, not because it has Jesus in it, or even Darth vader, even the lack of "artistic" technic, I've seen better computer generated images from children (technicly speaking), but because it is tasteless and has the main purpose to make people get pissed. What a Retard!!!

ronknights ( ) posted Sat, 23 February 2002 at 2:20 PM

OH, boy. Isn't it amazing how people can do their best to offend others, both publicly and privately? Isn't it amazing how some people don't know enough to stop when they're told? Isn't it amazing how the keep it up, even when warned? Then they go crying to "mommy or daddy" when someone stands up to them, and again reminds them to back off? Legume, you don't have a license to be abusive, even if someone else insults you. I've seen you go "over the top" here several times, and it's a wonder this thread hasn't already been locked. If/when it does, it will be caused by your abusiveness. I advise you not to send me one of your abusive IM's. I guaranteed that you will be reported for a TOS violation. Ron
