Subject: Argh! How do I get rid of the ballerina feet?

Buffer ( ) posted Sun, 03 March 2002 at 12:30 AM · edited Fri, 08 November 2024 at 7:03 PM

I am sure I am just over looking this but I cannot find the solution to this problem in any of my reference materials. When you create a new character their feet are glued to the ground. This is fine while you are doing the posing but if you want to elevate them they keep those pointed feet. While the feet would be fine for a ballet dancer, they hardly fit mike with an M4 in his hand. I am not sure if I can raise/lower the ground plane to actually match that of my terrain or not. Could someone please enlighten me as to what I am missing here. It is driving me nuts.

Turn of IK on the legs: Select the figure On the top menu select "figure>Use Inverse kinematics>" and remove the check marks from both legs. The feet won't be glued to the floor anymore.

I find the IK default setting annoying! So I've saved the basic figures in their own PZ3 files IK unchecked.. much more convenient!

WOOHOO! Finally a normal looking set of feet... ahh the little triumphs...

Traveler made a fantastic set of utility poses, there's also a pose for turning the IK's off! If you don't have the set yet, go and check out Morph World! :)

Do you mean like a dancer on point? My figures come in with their feet flat, not pointed. I'm trying to imagine what they looks like and I can't imagine why your figures are coming in with their toes pointed. Melanie

melanie, i think it's because he's using the yTran dial to lift them higher and has IK's on

If you select Body and use the Y tran dial, the entire body will elevate without changing the feet. However, it looks from the original post that his figures are coming in with the feet already pointed. Maybe I'm just interpreting it wrong. Melanie

Manybe Mike has a "high-heel" version, like SMV? ;-) She seems to be having some problems with her footwear, though!

hehe well I was trying to raise the character to fit the terrain I had put in. I should have been using the dial but was just dragging the model around trying to figure out what I did wrong

Men used to wear red high heels. Think of all those French kings (Louis 16th or thereabouts) in the full-length portraits.
