Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 7:34 pm)
I have downloaded some free objects to get the feel of 3d. I have Amapi, don't get it yet. So downloading is it right now. I have Dnld OBJ's,COB's,DXF's,LWO's and loaded them into Amapi,Anim8or, etc. to convert them in OBJ's that Vue2 understands. The models are animals buildings some people.I do own UV Mapper, do understand it yet DNLD some TUTS though.-Will check mail on Friday. Use the library for internet access.--Yhank You so much
Dyan, you have effectively no other choice then to map by hand. But this worked fine in Vue2. We all have used it this way. If I remember well, Vue 2 will not import other formats and if, anyhow, they will not map right. People (Poser figures) will only map correctly in Vue2, if they are exported from Poser in OBJ as an "entire figure". Vue 4 does this perfectly for all this formats (except DXF which has no UV coordinates). Good luck!:-) Guitta
Thank You for answering. That might explain why some models/objects in various formats map correctly and some don't. All of Mitch's German site map correctly, I wonder what 3d program he uses that works for my Vue2 mapping?. The gallows from the wonderfull (and helpfull) people at Sam's3d won't map correctly. But as you said it could be the 3d program that is being used. So I have to learn UV Mapper? I just finished a Trex, I am so pleased with the texture and bumps I did, It took a while, but got him just the way I wanted. I wished all the object would come out like my dino! I've visited this site for a while, but never wrote! Life is learning-love it!Thank You all for a great forum, I'll be here, If not out in the field photographing!!

When I download a object that has a texture,it has a lot of white and is not in line with the model. I have flipped it and resized(picture x&y)(offset too), sometimes that works. But usually it is so off nothing I do is right. Some models when I load the map comes out right! I use Vue's on-board textures/bumps etc. when this happens, but the textures that come with some models are sometimes nicer. Anybody got an idea?
