Subject: Duel near the bridge over the river uncertainty...

DNBRU.jpgRender : Vue3 Post Production: Painter6 & Wacom Intuos Figures : Eagle - Zygote Snake - Zygote (P4 default) BeastMaster - yours truly (Zygote version) Props : Rope bridge - WhiteCrow 3D All others... Vue3 As much as I'd like to see all the animosity between the two poser factions die, the feuding has inspired this image... What is the image saying? Well... the eagle swooping down on the snake is meant to depict one forum attacking the other (non forum specific). The "river uncertainty" signifies Meta's announcement of their "divestment" of our beloved program. The "BeastMaster" rushing across the bridge signifies those in the community that are trying to play mediator in all of this havoc. The bridge itself represents the poser community as a whole trying to "bridge" the gap between poser's past and future. The near side of the river represents poser's future, with new "vegetation" or idea's. The far side of the river with the dying trees represents the programs that may die with Meta's mistake. This image was not created as fuel for the fire, it was meant simply as an observation. Comments? -Rob

Very, very astute Rob, I like it... I may not enjoy being the eagle or the snake... but sometimes in life, you haven't much choice in who you are or the choices you are faced with and must make... Definately, one of the most thought provoking images that I have seen in a while.... Jack ::notices one other similarity, but will only speak about it in private so as not to bring up the issues all over again, they do get tiring...::

A profound observation. And a stiring inditement of the error of confusing the bright lights of flames with the warmth of knowledge. We are, after all, trying to cross the same bridge. Jack:: I suspect I see it too. Or at least have read something disturbing into the image as well. Which certainly speaks well of the artist don'it? thanks for posting it jje

Is a nice allegory.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Thank you all for your feedback, I really appreciate all of your comments. The image has plenty of other hidden perceptions I chose not to explain, to avoid dredging up an unfortunate situation. For instance, the dead tree on the near side of the river (which is supposed to be the side of poser's future), or the fact that the eagle is swooping in the direction of the past, or the fact that the snake is backed up against a post instead of back onto the bridge... and the list goes on. Just food for thought... Again, thanks for the feedback. -Rob

Hmmm...lemme see here...ok...my take is that the dead tree on the "future" side represents all the B.S. that went down at MC and the divestiture of certain software applications and personnel (hey, it works for me, ok?). The eagle swooping from the future represents those factions who are looking forward but being forced to guard their rear from the attack by the snake who represents those who are mired in the past and so busy pining for the "good old days" that they don't realize they have already crossed the bridge and are backed against a post because, let's face it, you can't go home again, it's a ONE WAY BRIDGE!! How's that for a totally out of left field analysis? :) Kate (who is just messin' with ya)

rbtwhiz ( ) posted Sun, 16 January 2000 at 6:05 PM

Kate, Actually... the dead tree on the "future" side of the river is the result of the fighting which has taken place after the announcement by Meta. Basically, what I was trying to show was that if the fighting continues... and the community is increasingly involved, poser's future looks remarkably similar to its past. Bongo, thanks. -Rob
