Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 26 2:05 pm)
In Poser ... 1. Setup the picture you want to make so it is visable on the screen. 2. Now go to ... [menu] "Animation" ---> "Make Movie" (ctrl+j) 3. ->in the "Quality box" select ---> "Current Display Settings" (e.g., Cartoon, Cartoon w/Line, Smooth Shaded, Smooth Lined, etc.) 4. ->in the "Time Span:" area, change the "End" to 0:0:0:0 (this will produce a "one frame" movie) the file will be named "yourfile.AVI" 5. Next, go to ... [menu} "File" ---> "Import" ---> "AVI Footage..." 6. Click "Open" ---> "yourfile.AVI" and "Change window to match background?" ---> "YES" Now, your "rendered image" (the one frame AVI) will appear as the background "pic" in your studio. 7. Move the camera so that the only thing visible in the window looks like the rendered image you want. Next, to actually produce the "rendered" image outside of Poser ... 8. Do this ... [menu] "File" ---> "Export Image..." ---> "Save As" 9. Select the image type (i.e., .jpg, .bmp, etc.) 10. Specify your filename and "Save" More tea, anyone? ;=] cheers, dr geep <--------------- (hoping nothing was left out) ;=]
Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"
cheers,

Thanks for the replies. I had already figured out the Animation movie thing, but I was looking for some setting that would just let me Render like normal but with the display document settings, without having to go through that. I guess not though. :) As for the Sketch Designer, that is not what I was really looking for, I wanted it to look like the display settings, Cartoon with line, hidden lines, etc...
geep's method works, but try it this way, instead:
Go to Animation Setup in the Animation menu, and set the Duration to 0:0:0:1 (one frame only). Set the Frame width and height to the desired size of your rendered image. Click OK.
Arrange your scene.
Set your display mode to Cartoon-with-Line, Hidden-line, etc.
Select Make Movie from the Animation menu. Set Sequence Type to Image Files, Resolution to Full, and Quality to Current Display Settings. Enable antialiasing if you wish. Click OK.
Provide a filename and location for the rendered image, and select a file type (JPEG, BMP, TIFF, whatever).
That's all. This is how I do all of my line-art renders.
Set up your display settings however you want then go File->Export->Image Is that really what you were trying to do, or am I missing something?

Well, yes, that'll work too. But only at whatever size the Document window is currently set at. And you have to antialias the image manually before exporting. And you'll have the camera name in the picture unless you remember to turn that off.
By using Make Movie, you can work in a smaller window and render a larger image without changing any settings. The camera message doesn't appear in the rendered image.

Is there a way to render an image with the documents styles, like cartoon, lines, etc.?
