Yes, Dina's superb hi res mesh can now wear Vicki's clothes! After much work reshaping Dina's mesh and redoing her joint parameters, plus more morphing work to get the face and body you see in these renders, Vina D is almost ready. I just have to make the installers and get her into the stores. She'll be available as a stand-alone version or as an add-on to Dina (at a reduced price). The 'Carmen' character moprhs come included in the package. You also get a host of individual morphs for Vina's head and body. The 'Carmen' texture, which will work on Dina or Vina will be sold separately.

This high res texture will work on Dina or Vina. This render was done with Yamato's P4 lashes. the only post work done was to the hair.

For those who want a different look for the original Dina, there will be a Carmen character/texture pack. With this character, you get the Carmen face morph and a reshaped body (similar but not exactly the same as Vina's Carmen), and you still have Dina's excellent joint parameters! This character comes with a bunch of additional individual morphs, too. Hope you like them!

That face is excellent! Congrats Diane! I knew it was possible to get rid of the flared nostrils but wondered why nobody was giving it much effort. Trust the creators to have to do it. Now I was just thinking, if Carmen is the default face on Vina, why did she have to have a separate name than Vina? g Btw, was there a lower poly version of Dina out or due out?

Cin- ( ) posted Wed, 13 March 2002 at 12:34 AM

I could be wrong, but I think there already is a lower polygon version of Dina that comes with the original Dina, or as an update if you got Dina before the lower res version was done.

DTHUREGRIF ( ) posted Wed, 13 March 2002 at 12:36 AM

Thanks for the compliments. I worked really hard on that face. :-) Carmen really isn't the default face on Vina. Her default is Dina's face with the head narrowed a bit. But I wanted to give her a totally different look for her debut. Dan (dacort did the mesh reshaping and joint work to make her Vicki compatible and I did the morphing and the texture) April, If you bought Dina before the lo res version was finished, you should have been sent an email with update info (back in December). Dina now comes with both a high and lo res version. So does Vina. If you need the update, send me an email at DTHUREGRIF@aol.com, with your order info if you have it (or at least the name you ordered it under.

I haven't bought her, I was sure my setup couldn't handle it (it squeeks under vicki and my scenes!) so I was waiting for people to post about the low res version! Gee, it's been out all this time! rolls eyes Where have I been! thanks :)

A *VAST" improvement. Now I'm glad I purchased Dina!

Staby ( ) posted Wed, 13 March 2002 at 7:34 AM

Much better! I Will have to buy her now! She is gorgeous and doesn't look like Vicky. Is she going to use Vicky's body textures too? I think it would be a plus since there are some great and different textures available for Vicky. It would be great to use the ultra realistic photographic textures I purchased on this mesh too. Great work!

Is she going to use Vicky's body textures too? As far as I know, Eowyn is remapping Dina hi res to take Vicki textures... wait till she sees this thread, she'll get fired up again. That project is quite a big one cos Dina is very hi res. And then she'll have to do the lo res version too ... evil grin -- I don't know if any grc staff are working on this project too!

Eowyn ( ) posted Wed, 13 March 2002 at 11:30 AM

It is a BIG project indeed. The amount of vertices is a nightmare for remapping :(

DTHUREGRIF ( ) posted Wed, 13 March 2002 at 12:27 PM

That's one reason DSI isn't doing it. The other reason is that I think the way Dina is mapped is much, much better than the way Vicki is mapped. It's much easier to match seams on the arms and legs for one thing because of the way the edges of the maps are done, not to mention that they are side by side running the same direction. And the way the head is mapped is far superior in my mind, too. The eyes were mapped closed, so you can actually texture the eyelids. The skin of the head wraps all the way around, so you don't have to try to match two sizes at the edge of the face. those are just a few of the things I like better.

Since making textures is my fort I really appreciate the care that Dan took in mapping Dina. It makes it so much easier to make highly detailed skin textures.

Eowyn ( ) posted Wed, 13 March 2002 at 12:52 PM

Perhaps Dina is mapped better, but most of us don't want to spend a fortune on buying separate textures for each figure - especially since I think most of us already spent a big amount of money on various Vicki textures. That's why it would be fantastic to be able to use them on Dina as well. I am sure a lot more people would be interested in Dina if she could take Vicki maps.

Dave71 ( ) posted Wed, 13 March 2002 at 3:23 PM

What a great improvement...this will make Dina worth it.

DTHUREGRIF ( ) posted Wed, 13 March 2002 at 5:41 PM

Eowyn, I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just that with running two websites/stores and producing support products for Dina as well as working on new things... We just don't have the time to do it. :-) Diane

Dave71 ( ) posted Wed, 13 March 2002 at 7:49 PM

Hey Is this one gonna be available here too?

DTHUREGRIF ( ) posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 2:46 AM

Yes, they will be available here as soon as I can repackage them and the testers can get them tested and up in the store, but they are up in the stores at www.thegrc.com and www.renderotica.com NOW. Just a plug. Since we (DSI) own the GRC and Renderotica, buying directly from us there helps us put more money toward developing more product. :-)
