The material statements and the UVs are not really related. Once your model is made in MAX and exported in OBJ format you will probably have to use UVmapper to add or remap the UVs. What's really cool about UVmapper is that selected UV sections can be added to groups or materials. I often use it to "cut" my model into groups. Check it out and see. -JH.

Once again... been out of the loop for a while.... My Forte in 3D is character modelling, particularly in Max 2.5 and 3, however i adore Poser for animating them. So, for a very long time now, i've been able to build killer models and take them into poser, but i really need help understanding how to use material statements to keep proper texturing in Poser, as well as some good explanations of what Poser does to uv coordinates...
