THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Multiple Selections

Got Bryce 4. Is there a way to make multiple selections from the "Select Mesh" menu with out the menu collapsing each time? Got lots of objects and need to select a lot of 'em. Can't tell you how tedious it is to reopen the menu a hundred times...

Not that I know of, holding the shift key will let you add to the selection, but you have to open the mesh list every time. Here's what I do to speed the process up a little, right after I import the mesh object I go to solo mode ( while it's still selected ) then select meshes which will have the same material and make families for them. Sometimes I find it faster to use the select all meshes option then go and deselect the ones not need in the family I'm working with. With models that have many parts, you can make families, after many of the families have been made, you can use select all meshes, then go to the family menu and deselect the families by holding the shift key. So you don't have as many meshes to deselect on the mesh list.

That's pretty much what I was doing... I imported two figures w/clothing from poser into bryce as one .obj file so that all ratios would remain. The problem was that to change all of the dif/amb/spec settings, I had to isolate each figure. I ungrouped the whole thing, then selected each mesh (holding shift) belonging to a particular figure then regrouping just that figure. Gaah! It would have been considerably easier if I could keep clicking and scrolling down. Oh well...

If you go to solo mode ( makes it easier ) then ungroup , hold the Shift and Ctrl keys then right click on the area where you want to select a mesh. A menu pops up with just the meshes in that area on it. You don't have to hold the shift key, but by holding the shift to you don't have to worry about losing the meshes already selected. You can also do it by left clicking but then you take a chance of moving something already selected by mistake.
