Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 6:22 pm)
It looks pretty darn cool but I hadn't downloaded it yet so I appreciate the heads up. I have a question though...why would you set it up so the obj is in the character folder instead of the geometries folder with all the other obj files? It took me a week to figure out that's why something else (not yours) didn't work. I'd extracted it to the folder I wanted it in and didn't realize they had hard coded an unusual directory into the cr2. :(
Hi, scifi, I use Pro Pack, and when you save a new figure in Pro Pack, it makes no .rsr as P4 does. Instead, it saves an obj along with the CR2. In order to make installation as simple as possible, I just do the same thing. As long as the obj ref is OK (that is, when I don't blow it ;o( ), Poser doesn't seem to mind. But I admit that I had gotten used to Poser's arcane way of spreading its files all over the landscape, so the simpler Pro Pack approach was kinda bewildering at first ;o) If you've ideas that'll make things easier, I'm all ears. I still think the vast majority of Poser users are into it for making pics, not pushing files, so any simplification is great.
I just edit all the cr2s anyhows and did catch your thip4mike before I took a look in poser. Great stuff, thanks! Us with propack have things thrown in one directory and that makes it simple for us, but it is confusing for the non propack users. I dunno unless we all compromise and put things in the geoemetries folders for them, or they learn the propack idiosyncs.
sigh I think obj files in the character folder are EVIL. 1. You can't rename the folder (RT4Mike) without editing the CR2. 2. Nonenglish version of Poser don't have a 'character' folder. In the german version its called 'Figuren' and the path in the CR2 isn't correct. Oh well, thanks thip for this great clothing. :) me moving obj's and editing cr2's, as usual
Huh...I had no idea propack did that. Thanks for explaining it thip. Seems weird to change that part since having a "stable" place for the obj in a separate folder minimizes the chances someone will mess it up inadvertently. I guess it wouldn't be an issue if Poser just used a relative reference that meant "in this same folder" so you could move the obj with the other files without caring what folder that actually was. Does it actually need the reference to start at "runtime:library:etc."?

My sincere apologies to all the good folks who've d/l'ed the RT Legionary. There's a faulty obj reference in the legionary tunic - the effect is that when you load, the tunic in Poser, nothing happens.
A corrected version is on its way to freestuff, but you can save yourself some d/l time by doing the following :
o Open the LegionTunic.CR2 in a text editor
o Find the TWO lines :
figureResFile :Runtime:libraries:character:thip4Mike:LegionTunic.obj
and change them to
figureResFile :Runtime:libraries:character:RT4Mike:LegionTunic.obj
o For fine-tuning (as in cleaning up my bloody material mess), go to the material section, remove ALL materials, and paste in these instead :
material LegionTunic

Truly sorry about the extra trouble. I hope you find the legionary worth it.
