This evening I downloaded from PoserStyle the textures for Mike Clothing Pak 1 and Suit Coat Pak and I must say that they alone are worth the subscription! JoeleJecko did a great work on them.

The only problem I had is with DAZ suit coat. Now that I started using texture on it I see that their last update fixed the bending problems, but there are alot of flaws in the mesh. There are lots of inverted poligons and holes.

Anyone has this problem, or was there a second update I don't Know about?

Thanks

Hi Staby, thanks for the comments :) I noticed the problem and the only way of getting rid of that is to asign a new material to inner part of the coat and hide it in Poser. I'll do that tomorrow and will post it in freestuff here ( hey, it's 2AM here :) joelegecko

Thank you Joe, I actually think that DAZ should fix it, but thanks. I tried for a couple hours to fix it with the grouping tool myself, but I had to give up... it was 2AM here too :). I don't know if it will be that simple. The fact is that the inverted polygons show up twice and have a different position on the template and when I assigned a new material and hide it there were holes in the figures. Also it looks like there are polygons that are not joined (is it the right term?) and the mesh breaks when using some more dynamic position than the default one... I was going to contact DAZ about this, but wanted to check if there was a new update (they didn't made us aware of the first one)... Thank you for your replay. I'm looking forward to using these textures, they are great and I joined just for them! I'm sure that I will be happy for your future updates too. Staby

omg, those textures just ROCK!!! I went to see the website yesterday, I'm still debating whether I can afford to spend $30 on the membership...

Eowyn, so far I'm happy with my subscription. The previews show that there will be a good mix of fantasy, sci-fi, real life type of poses and clothing items. I think that they will be $30 well spent! Staby

I'm waiting for Daz' reply before releasing anything. Nevertheless, it's really easy to do with UVMapper. Just load the blSuitCoat.obj in UVMapper. Select the parts in red ( image ) and go to Tools/Assign/Material. Enter the name you want, and then replace your model with this one ( you can still reinstall it if something's gone wrong, but it's nothing serious, you shouldn't have any problem ). Open poser, and load your sit coat, you now have a new material for the inner part of the coat that you can hide...

Eowyn, it depends on what you like ( clothes, textures, poses, props,... ). The good point with PoserStyle is that you'll get a lot of different things during your subscription. Next month, we'll have lights and other things... We sincerely think it's the best deal you could find but only you can decide.
I would say for my part, that you'll get more than the money paid just during the first month.

And, yes, Pokeydots, we already thought about the three musketeers ;)

Thank you I'll try it now!

It worked, it is OK now! I had to assign a new material to those parts too in order to fix the problems with the sleeves and collars. It looks like DAZ capped the sleeves as in the Karate Suit to allow more texture details, but this caused more problems than benefits... Thank you Joe! I was sure it was a problem of inverted polygons and spent last night to find out which one had inverted normals... sigh!

Jaager ( ) posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 10:38 PM

DAZ does indeed need to fix this. I can duplicate inverted normals on facets like this. It occurs when I cut a mesh up into groups and I do not do it like a wave washing back down a beach. If I go in and try to add in some facets that I missed, this shows up in Poser. It makes it a bitch to group a complicated mesh. If the inverted normals occur as a complete group, the grouping tool can easily repair it. If it is random, I can only repair it by erasing the whole grouping, start with one (the parent) and subtract out the children again. Awful, tedious, and boring. At least it does not effect the mapping.

DAZ artists are busy working and trying to see what is wrong with the suit coat pak to fix it. However, we are unable to duplicate the errors that you all are having. If you would not mind please email Reba at tech@daz3d.com with your files and a very detailed description of the error. That way we can review the exact files you have to see if you need the latest update or if we need to issue a new update. Thanks for your assistance and help. If it is an error with our model we will fix this problem as soon as possible. AnneMarie DAZ

Well the solution has been found and fixed by the artists here at DAZ. Thanks for your patience and for letting us know about this error. An email with a link to an updated product will be going out to all who purchased the Suit Coat Pak for Michael before April 12, 2002. We are required to offer the update in this manner because in order to offer the fix it will contain the OBJ file and CR2 files. If you have not received your update email by April 19, 2002 please contact Reba at sales@daz3d.com with your invoice number and she can manually set up a download for you. Thanks for your patience, AnneMarie DAZ
