You need a program which allows you to model a shape using vertices and polygons. Not splines, nor nurbs. If you do model in something with nurbs, you must be able to convert it to polygons. Exporting your model as an .obj will save you some steps later, so check for that as an export option. Truespace, Milkshape, Blender, Carrara, Ray Dream Studio are all free or reasonably-priced. (RDS is discontinued, but you can sometimes find it at computer shows.) Being low-priced doesn't always mean low-powered. Hash's Animation Master is a great tool, but it is not compatible with other programs. 3D Studio Max, Cinema 4D, Lightwave, Maya are all good tools, but you will need to invest a lot of time as well as money if you buy any of these. Brycetech has a nice tutorial on making posable props, and there are others. Carolly
