Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 1:41 pm)
I'm reading from the inside of Digit mag, it states that the version 4 will be able to use Poser figures which are of course Daz 3D figures, ergo, Life Forms 4 will be able to use Daz models thereby making Poser redundant. Well not completely maybe but it's an interesting thought. It will also have exports to all the major 3D apps including Shockwave 3D.....

Well, I found it at the link above. But it says:
Supports all the top 3D Graphics packages
With Life Forms Studio 3.9, you're not limited to one application - benefit from the smooth integration into your favorite 3D packages. We support 3D Studio Max, LightWave 3D, ElectricImage, Poser, Cinema 4DXL, plus any programs that use BVH, Acclaim, or HTR motion capture data.
So, since it says it already supports Poser, what is new in the announcement? (Please forgive me. I am not familiar with Life Forms, but Poser is p*ssing me off.)
I think there is a misunderstanding here I use Lifeforms studio 3.9.0.55 Lifeforms is for complex editing of Raw animation data in reinfusing it back into existing Hi-res character assemblies It can handle low poly segmented characters Like max Bipeds for GAME work it can open fully rigged low poly lightwave character assemblies and apply BVH data to the internal bone structure and reinsert that animated bone structre back into the original Lightwave scene file and you Can then replace your LW character mesh with a hi res one for the final animation render now as far as POSER is concerned Lifeforms will open the BVH skeletons of any poser figure already but not the hi res mesh. it has a very rudimentery scanline low res renderer for previeiws BUT its not intended for final renders Once you import the mike or vicky skeleton you can then key frame or import BVH Data and apply to the skeleton, import film footage and rotoscope your bone rig to it. you can combine BVH Data from different sources ,you can slow down, reverse and thin BVH data, you can create complex walk paths that go up/down hills with variable speed and step length. you can past BVH data to upper or lower body only( from different sources) you can preview the animation in any BVH file in a little minibrowser without opening them. BUT ( As those who Downloaded the santa monica 30 meg .zip file of BVH motions quickly learned ) , ALL BVH files have major variances in joint axises depending on what system captured the data. So Lifeforms has a joint mapping feature where you have the source animation in one window and the destination rig in the other and you map each body part in the source to its correspding body part in the destination rig. (Franky a rather tedious process) But it MUST be performed when mixing animation data from different sources. Apologies for the long post but i dont want people to think Lifeforms as some sort of replacement for poser ..... Its not!! but for advanced edting of animation data its a powerful stand alone tool.

apparently, at least according to the write up on Credo's site. That'll be interesting because it has many features that Poser lacks.....
