Ok, as some of you know, I'm working on an update for Tobi, my cat woman, and I gave her digitigrade legs. I brought her into Poser using a mish mash of Posette CR2 for the human parts, and Lionheart's CR2 for the legs. Well, for the most part, she poses ok (as well as Lionheart anyway) but I'm having major troubles with the Walk designer. Her left side works pretty well, but her right side distorts the foot/shin joint horribly. The mesh is symmetrical, and I've tried all the usual tricks, ik off and on, zeroed body, left to right symmetry, hack the cr2 and copying values from the left to the right, nothing seems to work. Does Poser have some anti-right bias here? Or can anyone think of somethig I'm missing? ON another note, which may or may not be related, from the picture you can also see the Guen is casting a weird looking shadow from her right thigh and left collar, almost like those parts are semi transparent, there's no transparency at all in the materials, and all her parts are checked as visible. I don't think it's a geometry propblem, because an earlier CR2 doesn't exibit this problem. Any ideas what this is and whether or not I need to worry about it? Late breaking news: Ok I just made a figure using the PHI method, and it does not distort the right leg (although it has other problems, like Phi figures usally do. Hmmm, I'll compare the new CR2 with the other ones after I get some sleep. Regards- Lemurtek

I think the problem lies somewhere in the .cr2 file. I've had figures that worked perfectly well, develope some strange bending prblems if I altered the body parts later on. I never really took the time to try and find out why it happens. I usually just: Make a .phi file Export the altered figure Convert it back to a new figure Copy the JP's from the existing .cr2 with cr2 editor It doesn't take long to do, because I've done this hundreds of times, and I can do it blindfolded by now. ;-) What do you mean "it has other problems like .phi files usually do"? Yeah, I just wish I knew where, I figured since the left side worked, it would be just a matter of mirroring the left legs values to the right, but it doesn't seem to help. I haven't had a chance to explore why the phi built figure works, hopefully there will be a clue in there. As for what I meant by Phi files, you answered it yourself, Phi's don't really make complete figures, they don't pose very well, and have problems (especially in the hips) even after you adjust the joints. If you make a poser figure from the p4nudewom.obj and a phi file, it won't be near the real Poser version. When I made figures like this (Krysta), I ended up copying a lot of the values from the p4nudewom.cr2 anyway, to make it work. Regards- Lemurtek

you might wanna look at reverse kenetics, drop shadows, depth cueing ,use limits even light positions . also if it doesnt work right is there some body part tweeked too far? did you tweek the settings in walk designer too far? "I dunno I just guard here..." - from Deomon's Gate - o.k. BYE

Oh..I see what you mean Lemur. The .phi files aren't designed to do all that stuff. Maybe it would be worth your while to make a pose file for your figures that contained all the JP's in it. So you could apply it with one click and solve any quirks you get after altering them? ScottA

Well, I've tried everything I can think of, Check all the values from top to bottom, use a compare file util, never could find what the prob was so I started over. Now I've got the legs working, however her derrier is now distorting. Sigh. I hate rigging in Poser. It's not as pronounced, but it's noticable. Guess I work at it some more. Thanks for the suggestion Scott, that's a good idea. Regards- Lemurtek
