Subject: Need a Video Camera! A virtual one, that is

FishNose ( ) posted Tue, 23 April 2002 at 11:13 AM · edited Sun, 17 November 2024 at 4:07 AM

Hi good people of the Forum! I need to stick in a video camera in an image I'm working on - anybody know of a fairly modern-looking model of one for Poser? Cheers :] FishNose

You might try looking here in Free stuff, I think I just saw one there...happy hunting...Sharen

I'm looking for good images of a studio quality camera if you know of any, we could do each other a favour then :o)......Steve

FishNose ( ) posted Tue, 23 April 2002 at 2:21 PM

Steve, do you mean as in a Canon SLR or Nikon or some such? If so, I've got loads of brochures and stuff - I could scan in a couple. What kind of pic / angle / camera do you need? Sharen - thanks, I'll check out Funstuff - I just had a feeling thewre wasn't anything really up to date, only something more primitive, but I'll take a gander. Or the goose otherwise :o] :] FishNose

LOL, I will look around too and see if I can find you one. Sharen

No a video camera Fishnose...i know very little about them so if thats what you meant sorry :o)...i just did a newsroom scene and really wanted to get a camera in there, and also thought if i could get pics i could do an outdoor set ....mind saying that the scream movie might be handy for that bit......if your brochures have anything like that any shot would be cool and both sides of the camera if possible but if not we can fudge it ;o)..Steve

Steve - Okay, a pro style video camera - you mean like a really heavweight floorstanding job? Studio model on a trolley? Or a shoulder model? I'll look around, betcha I got something. Or can find something. Do you need it super pronto? I'm a video photographer amongst other things, so I frequent the sites and shops that have that kind of equipment. Myself , I use a handy semi-pro 3ccd DV handjob :o] on a tripod. These days, the difference between the shoulder models and hand models has shrunk to a helluva lot less than it used to be. Sharen - thanks! I'll check out 3dcafe. Very nice of you to help out. I did find one here in funstuff, but it was pretty primitive, a 3ds thing from '99.

FishNose ( ) posted Tue, 23 April 2002 at 3:20 PM

Sharen, just found that handycam on 3dcafe, and very nice it was too, just what I was looking for, with texs and all - but OUCH! It's in MAX format, haven't a clue what to do with that. Does anyone have the tools for making a textured obj or pp2 out of it?? :] FishNose

Steve, I've got pix for you - and then some. Extremely hires pix of 2 models, the JVC DV500 (full-pro shoulder) and the JVC DV300 (semi-pro hand). Jpegs at about 1000x1000 or so, from all sides except underneath. The DV500 is, as JVC put it themselves, the world's premier DV professional camera. I don't know the price, but a fair guess is in the $25000-$35000 range. I'll zip up the pics (9MB in total) and send them to you - what's a suitable email? :] FishNose

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 23 April 2002 at 4:21 PM

Yes I do, but I don't know if you can use the maps for it later....send me your email address and I will try to convert it for you and then send it to you...Sharen

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 23 April 2002 at 5:36 PM

Oh man, I feel bad, I can't seem to convert it for you...it keeps spitting it out....maybe someone from 3Dmax can do it for you.....think maybe you can post it at that forum...I am so sorry...Sharen

Fasttraxx had an excellent news set freebie - complete with studio configured broadcast cams & teleprompters. From the style of his thumb, it looks like it was at PropsGuild perhaps?

Nance ( ) posted Tue, 23 April 2002 at 9:40 PM

Hmmmm... I can't seem to find a front door at: http://www.chemicalstudios.com/ What've I missed?

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Tue, 23 April 2002 at 9:48 PM

Chemical Studios is probably having bandwidth "issues" again. The camera, teleprompter, and news set are still at PropsGuild, if you have a subscription.

Sharen - thanks for trying - that's what counts! Hi Anik! That's cool! Okay, try the camera from 3dcafe - if you can get that one to work out, it's plenty good enough for me! All we'd need then is a tripod :o] :] FishNose
