Subject: In your opinion what is the most user-friendly, realistic female model out?

Desdemmonna ( ) posted Wed, 24 April 2002 at 7:16 AM · edited Sun, 04 August 2024 at 6:27 AM

I've seen Dina V, Natalia, Stephanie, Victoria 2, etc and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. I have V2 but am looking foreward to expanding my character library in the near future and would appreciate some input from others in reguards to which is the most convenient, easy to texture/pose alternative model out right now? Thanks for taking the time to read, -Des

Well, for ease of use, there's Posette (the simplest)... then there's all those others out there... Bah... I'll stick to V2. It's versitile enough for me, and has more support than nearly anything else out there.

To me the P4 female by far. I have a hard time animating Vicky. Ron

OOPs forgot one. Natalia by dcort is also very good. That would be my second choice. Vicky would be 3rd with Dina 4th. Dina just has to many polys. Actually Natalia and the P4 fem are a tie. Ron

Many folks don't know about her yet, so please forgive me mentioning my own P4FemMagic. For user-friendly, what other figure comes with a detailed, illustrated 30-page user guide? Or lots of included DialMagic, face and tintMAT files? 90 new head morphs? P4FemMagicTrio adds them to the business and casual clothed figures. And available any day now - 100 faces with a sweet new view/compare/paste mechanism. Altho she objects if I call her cheap, she is the most affordable way to adds lots of variety to figure collections.

Not me. Ron

I'd go with Vicki2 first choice, and Stephanie loosk really good. The other models have good points and bad points but int he end in my mind they either have somethign odd with their proportions, lack detail or lack the support I get with a V2 character.

lalverson ( ) posted Wed, 24 April 2002 at 11:05 AM

Having all of them except for solandra, i would say that from the start you are correct each is different, and each have there good and bad points. there is no super uber gotta have one. so I would say get them all as you budget allows.

Seeing you already got vikki then my choice would be the nude young woman from daz, shes cheap and takes poser 4 clothing and head morphs ;o).....Steve

Blitter ( ) posted Wed, 24 April 2002 at 3:39 PM

Vickie 2 is a vast enhancement to Vickie and in my opinion is the best overall model. It's very realistic, decently posable, has many morphs, and uses a large array of clothings, props, hair, etc. The textures from StephyZZ etc for it are outstanding. I'm very pleased with Vickie 2.

Eowyn ( ) posted Wed, 24 April 2002 at 4:08 PM

Vicki2 and Stephanie, definitely. I have made one render with the P4 woman after I got Vicki.. and I'm not planning to use her again. Dina was a disappointment, and I don't have Vina. I also don't have any of the dcort models.. I'll stick to Vicki2 and Stephanie, they have an excellent support :)

Strangechilde ( ) posted Wed, 24 April 2002 at 5:18 PM

I'm one of the people who was disappointed when the 'Mystery Model' turned out to be Stephanie, but I've just had to eat my hat. I love Steph, and I'm so glad to have had her as the Mystery Model, because I'd not have bought her otherwise and would never have known what I was missing. She's a bit scrawny in default, true, but she has a real dignified gravity about her that appeals to me a great deal. Plus, she takes Vickie's clothes and hair, so there's a whole library you don't have to worry about replacing. The only other female models I have are Vicky and Vicky2, so I can't speak for the others, but I do say Stephanie is a joy.

Aside from the venerable Posette and Dork, I have Mike2 and Vick2 (with Steph of course). Aside from that I don't see much reason to pick up a whole new geometry set - although I do like the look of DCort's natalia. I am, however, planning to get Boris (to expand my Mike possibilities) Lyrra

hmmm tough question. As everyone else said they all have their faults..Dan's Natalia is really neat and easy to use, just not enough things around for her. I have vick1,v2 Mike 1 and 2 and steph.... Since I got Steph I haven't used Vicki...since I got vic2 and mike 2 I haven't used the first versions. I find all of the mil people to be fairly easy to use and morphs abound for all of them :) I agree with Strangechilde, for me, Steph is pure joy :) Pendy

Just to put in an admittedly biased plug here.... If you are looking for a model that can be posed in extreme poses without the need for extensive postwork, then Dina V is the way to go. Her joint parameters keep her knees and elbows from breaking up when bent further than 90 degrees. She is indeed very high res, which gives her a much softer, smoother, more "real" feel than any of the other models out there. She now has a good selection of free additional morphs available and quite a few varied characters and textures in the stores, plus several excellent clothing packs. Vina D, Dina's sister, has the same high res geometry for a smooth look, but her body shape and joint parameters have been redone so that Vicki's clothing will conform to her. This means she has some of the same joint anomolies that Vicki does, but the upside is that it opens up a whole new world of possibilities for clothing.

Phantast ( ) posted Thu, 25 April 2002 at 2:53 AM

Vicky can be irritating when one does the actual rendering outside of Poser. Posette is easier to export. The way some of the head materials for Vicky are located on the body texture is very irritating. As a result I use mostly a mixture of Posette and Eve.

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 25 April 2002 at 5:45 AM

I have most of the models. I like Natalia because she looks different and you actually get two models with her. Got Dina and was very disappointed, even the free updates don't help her, and I refuse to pay what they ask for the newest one. I like Stephanie and would have probably bought her if she hadn't come free. I love the Boris model. In the Dina pose in the post above the elbows joints are crinkly and the shoulders still look bad. I made BodyMorpher to fix most of the the problems i had with Poset, you can download it for free at my site here: http://home.online.no/~kjellil/Index-AllStuff.htm It has 29 bodymorphs, 39 chest morphs, 106 face morphs + some detailing morphs included. Also download the BodyMorphs & BodyShapes file as it has preset poses for it that changes the shape of the body, chest, face and details without changing the pose. The Texture it looks for is the P4NG5V5mk2 texture that you can download from the same page. There is a downside to it, morph the body and clothing won't fitt. Staale
