Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 26 2:05 pm)
I've seen that happen with other mocap files, so it isn't exclusive to Credo Interactive. It's simply the way that a given Poser figure's skeleton is structured, compared to the skeletal structure used in the mocap recording process. Have you tried the archery file with Posette? Not good. On the other hand, Michael 2 P4, which has the same skeleton as the P4 Male, turns out quite nice. The Megamocap files aren't in BVH format, so you'll have to bring them into Life Forms for conversion anyway. I haven't installed the software yet, so I don't really know how well they'll work.
You can open a bvh file in a text program and see the body part names right there and change them to work with poser figures. Compare it with one that does work with poser for corect names. This worked way better for me. It was a perfect conversion compared to credo's tutorial. I had a bunch exported from Life Forms and used BBedit's batch find-change word function. I just got life forms from the same magazine too. Its locked up my mac around 30 times (everytime I go to file open) and on my pc sometimes it makes all my icons dissappear, just text. I e-mailed them about it but since I didn't pay for the software they really didnt care. Still there are same great animation files with it. Some really bad ones too though.

When I apply one of Credo Interactive free Poser BVH monthly motion files (archery this month), it doesn't seem to work with Mike 2. His shoulders go all the way up to his head. I also tried the old Poser 4 male figure and it cannot find references to some of his fingers but it works a lot better than Mike2. I have ordered the Digit issue that has Lifeforms and Megamocap on the CD hoping to use the included BVH files with Mike 2 and Stephanie but for what I have seen with the free files in Credo's website they might not work. Has anyone tried to apply them to Mike 2 yet and if you get the same deformation I'm getting with the shoulders going up, is there a way to fix this. maybe editing the file or bringing it into Life Forms. If so how hard is it?
