Well, I just stopped at a real photography store
today; one that carries a bit more than Kodak 200 color
print film (they have refridgerators full of fancy film!)
and cheap Cosina 17-400mm zooms to go with that F100 they
want to sell you!
I bought a few 49mm filters -- Tiffen Red-25, Tiffen
Circular Polarizer, and a Tiffen Haze-1 filter. All for
my 50mm f2 Pentax SMC-A lens (still gotta get a few more
good used lenses from KEH), and I can't wait to try them
out!
At first I had picked out a Hoya Circ. Polarizer because
it was the only one on the rack in my size, but the guy
behind the counter (the owner, I think) noticed the high
price (around $75) and went to the trouble to go hunting
in the stock room for a less expensive Tiffen model for me.
I thought that was pretty darned honest and helpful of him.
I think I'll be spending my money there in the future.
The nice thing about that size of filter is that they'll
pop onto my digital camera when I get around to buying a
Lensmate adapter for it.
Ahhhh! New vistas to explore!
