in both instances, I think both designs would do better if the yellow background had no texture at all, and was simply flat. Me thinks it would help put it in a better perspective, placing it behind the lettering a little better, easier for the eyes i think. Not sure tho, just a thought. If I had to choose between the two of them, I'd pick the one on the left. Seems to give off a much more focussed air of itself, stronger sense of what Digital Alchemy is, while the one on the right doesn't convey anything to me, personally that is. Seems too busy with itself and its innards or something along the lines of that. Also, the rhyming shapes in the first one (left) are probably somethings that's thouroughly pleasing my eye right now. great stuff man
I agree with Slynky on losing the background texture of the yellow areas; they're drawing attention away from the foreground. As for which one, it depends what your site is about (I followed your link but just found a page that said 'Lions Pride'). Both these logos have an identity but which one says most about your work? The one on the left communicates more to me. If I saw that as a link to follow, I'd feel I knew what I was going to get, not really the case with the one on the right. Looking good - keep us posted.
