Subject: NOT Happy

Ok... I'm not a happy camper here. I was working on a rendering for the May Challenge and is had one single volumetric spot light in it and I set it up to render in Ultra mode directly to disk... well... 3 days later, after checking it from time to time to make sure that it was still working, finally it got to 100% finished saving to disk and it locked up!!! Nothing saved to disk at all!!! Not even the alpha channel!!! You want to talk about one P'Oed MF!!! Now I got to start this thing all over again because before rendering I forget to save the small tweaks I gave the scene and have to do it all over again... wish there was an option that would save the scene to disk before it began rendering automatically! 3 Days down the drain! Sorry... I had to vent somewhere!

Ouch, that is harsh! But that is odd that nothing saved. Just incase, did you look to make sure you didn't have a different directory selected as the path for the render? I remember once I had selected the wrong directory and couldn't find my completed render so I didn't think it saved. Infact I saved it under the name of a past render overwriting that picture in a different dir. Take a look at the render options and/or do a search for the file name, it might be somewhere else by mistake. That is a bummer!

Use Norton Windoctor to fix whatever direct x problems may be happening, or just render to screen... It's quicker and it works.. :)

Yeah... I figured that out and I also dropped the render quality a bit more... seemed to work better but the quality wasn't what I wanted.

heyas; if you restart vue, sometimes it says it finds 'evidence' (or whatever) of an unfinished render, and do you want to save that. for goodness' sake, say YES! open it, it might be your image. you didn't get that the next time you started vue? ugh :/
