In the words of my ex boss "Slimy bastards." So the products that made Meta who they are today are being tossed aside like a bad copy of Microsoft Bob? Well I for one hope they fall flat on thier faces and whoever buys the rest of the graphics products has to bail them out. I hope to God that someone good picks up the graphics products and really flys with them. Metastream is going to end up just like VRML, lots of support and creation options, no implimentation and use. I mean when was the last time you actually saw somthing in VRML? I mean, I have seen 3D streams, NanoHome for one. But it's been about a year since I saw anyone actually using it. Oh well, I feel like I spoke enough. Niters all.
Nick, It's business as usual. I lost my job in Vegas when the company I worked for decided they didn't have the sales skills to make their gaming division profitable. They bought up a bunch of small businesses and then dismantled them (basically as office supplies, furniture, and scrap materials) because they couldn't sell the goods in the same manner that they sold their primary product. Their sales people knew locks, but they didn't know games, and the division stopped making a profit as a result of botched sales and poor customer service. Such is life, but I figure that Poser, and Metacreations will probably be better for the split. Maybe a small company who can afford to spend the time concentrating on the product will pick Poser up. If Metacreations can come up with a really great 3D web format, then that's great. VRML sucks, and a better format would really fill that gap. I was worried when I thought Poser was gone for good, but I figure the future of this software is pretty secure. (As long as they continue to offer it at a hobbist's price tag)
