Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 17 1:30 pm)
Yep have used it and it is quite versitile. It is also not something that is for beginers really since it has a lot of parts and choices and you are basically assembling the beast and trying to pose each peice independantly. But it is really nice but just not for people that want to drop in figure, pose and go.
I have not used it, but i have used many of the other items he has for free and for sale. and I'll say his quality is first rate and well worth it. So, why don't I have it you ask? simple I don't use dragons very often and the beifit would not pay fro itself. unlike his heavy horse, whick i own and have used a bunch.
I have Dragon Factory and I love it to pieces. GhostofMacBeth is quite right: it's not quite as plug and play as an iMac, but it comes with a very clear manual that will get you going right away... and of course there's always here. ;) The sheer versatility of the pack is amazing. The morphs available for the different heads and bodies, together with the array of props, really do give you an incredibly variable range of possibilities from the Disneyesque to the Geigerian. Another bonus is that the pack comes with various add-on figures-- horns, teeth, spikes, wings (the wings are SO nice, with morphs to bulge the muscles and all)-- hey, even the arms and legs and the extra tail and tongue-- that you can easily scale down and use with human or other figures. And just putting them together-- it's so much fun. Think Dragon Lego. Of course, there will be some limitations: when you're working with a figure whose arms and legs and head are separate figures from the body, the deformations at the joins will not be right, so you'll need a little postwork there. Texturing for the same reason is a bit of a nightmare over the whole piece. But the versatility of the product, and the amazing number of totally different dragons you can produce, is worth the trade in my book. The models themselves really are first-rate as lalverson anticipates, and the attention to detail is really nice-- membranes connecting the jaws at the corners of the mouths (download the free fix for one of these), retractable claws on the fingers, the hi-res eyes with nictating membranes-- I could go on, but then you might suspect me of having been hired to say these things. :) The package is truly superb. I know, $80 is a lot of money (I got it for myself as a birthday present), but for what you get, for the versatility and variability of the models, and for the quality or the work, I call it a bargain-- no question. I will add that I received my overseas order in a very civilised timeframe (it arrived sooner than I expected). Thumbs Up to Dragon Factory from Dr. Strangechilde.
I just got mine after drewling over it for ages! And I love it too, just so many options I'm still 'playing around' and haven't actually created anything yet (sorry Bloodsong, it's coming however!) Aslo I have seen some creative things done by adding the parts (wings, tails, etc) to other charaters! I definatly give it FOUR CLAWS UP!!!

It looks interesting, but I was hoping to hear from someone who has used it before I shell out.
