There is away to import multiple objects and keep the placement ( from each other ) correct. Use a trajectory object. That is, an object used to determine where other objects will be placed ( in Bryce ) It's really simple, say you have a poser scene with 4 figures, and their already positioned. Create a mesh plane ( prop )and place it on the Y axes like it's the ground the figures are standing on. Then in top view scale the plane on the X & Z so it totally encompasses all the figures ( no body parts hanging over the edges ) Then export one poser at a time and include the plane ( with each one ) in the export. Then when each one is imported into Bryce, Bryce sees the plane as being the biggest object ( on X & Z ) and uses it as the central object, so the plane falls to the center of the work space. And the poser is still at it's location on the plane. After you import each one just delete the planes. If there is any issues with the Y positions, use the drop command on each group. Most imported objects can be exported out of Bryce by selecting them then use the E icon, when the edit menu is open press Ctrl + D, ( or maybe it's Alt + D ). You may have some issues exporting poser figures, depends how they were exported out of Posers. You can lock objects in Bryce ( attributes menu ) but after an object is locked it can not be selected by clicking on it. ( can only be selected off the object's list ) So what you probably want to do instead is hold the Ctrl key and right click on the object then select it from the pop up menu.
Roy, When i first started using Bryce it freaked me out too, but I kept fiddling around with it until it felt familiar. It is a little hard to learn, but I found that the book Real World Bryce 4 helped me understand things a little better. It's the Bryce Bible! Don't give up on this great program. Also if you are willing to venture out there, find as many tutorials as you can. Don't be afraid to ask questions here either, because this is a great community!
Wow, I just came home and look at all the posts.
Thank you all very much for the tips and encouragement.
Stephen had a good tip but I think I'll go a little further and put things in a big box. That way things will be correct in all three dimensions and I can just delete the box after import.
It's kind of complicated, what I'm trying to do is keep things grouped at a manageable level. I have a huge model I've been working on in Rhino and I want to use Bryce for rendering. I'm kind of used to Poser where you have the option to center imported objects or let them go to their correct place.
And yes Bryce is kind of freaking me out. (Everything seems to be hiding)

I bought Bryce 4 a long time ago but I keep getting frustrated with it and the weird interface, I keep putting off really learning it, but decided to give it one more try.
Here are a few things I'm having problems with.
When importing obj. type files is there a way keep them in proper relationship with other objects that are imported. Bryce seems to want to put them in the center but that's not where I want them. I have a hard time moving things around and getting them exactly where they should be.
Also why can't I export? Seems like if I import I should be able to export?
And is there any way to lock things down so I don't move them when trying to select them?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
