If you liked the Chainmail, well I think this one is even cooler. The 6 mat poses apply directly to the millenium adults. I created the scale maps in 2 different sizes for different looks. There are 3 colors for each size scale. Please give feedback and let me see stuff made with these textures.

Oh, and as usual, the maps can be applied to other objects. I only created poses for the millenium figures, but the textures still go well with other stuff.

Kewl. Yeah I really liked the chainmail textures. How did you make those?

Gorodin ( ) posted Thu, 16 May 2002 at 12:47 PM

Patterned diffuse map, patterned bump map, and a reflection map. Just changed the object colors for diff color armor. (which means people can adjust to make just about any color armor they want...

I dont think I was clear. I was curious as to how you made the textures not how they were done in Poser.

Oh, I created the patteerns in PS. If you open up the Scalemail.gif or the chainmail.jpg, you will see that the patterns are pretty straightforward. I started with a shape on a layer (ring or oval) and applied a gradient to give it depth when the elements overlap. I set the layer blending to Screen so that the lighter parts would always appear on top. Then I duplicated the layer several times and overlapped them in a mesh pattern. I then defined a pattern from that and applied it to a really high res empty doc, then saved it out.

Nice. "I then defined a pattern from that and applied it to a really high res empty doc, then saved it out." How do you do this in Ohotoshop? Is it version dependent? smerc

To define a pattern, make a rectangular selection. Under the edit menu there is an item labeled "Define Pattern...". That's been there as long as I can remember. You then do Edit/Fill... and select Pattern instead of Foreground color. Paint bucket also has a patter fill option.

Thanks, guess I missed the obvious :)

Don't be too hard on yourself. It's like Mail Merge in MS Word... most people would think "Why in the heck would I ever need to know that..." (^_^)

;) very nice work, and a great explanation of the technique you used. pretty cool of you to take the time to do that. did you include a reflection map with the package, or use the poser default (SilverRefl.pct)? cheers, -gabriel

I included a reflection map I made.
