Subject: rds5 to poser4 mesh distortion

Hello, I made an object in rds5.5 and exported it to .obj format. When I import it into bryce it looks fine, but poser kind of smears the mesh around, making it look lumpy and odd. Does anyone know how to keep this from happening? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt Baucco mbaucco@indiana.edu

Matt, I've heard that Poser "smooths" objects..?? Im not 100% sure that it does since I dont do much rendering in Poser. If you dont get an answer here try the Poser forum here at Renderosity. Clint

heya; yep, sounds like the dreaded poser smoothing 'feature.' ;) there's two ways to get around it, one is to make a lot of vertices around the sharp corners. the other has to do with splitting the sharp edges by material... sorry, i cant remember the details, but you can search for them in the poser forum.
