Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 7:34 pm)
Hi, To write a book, a publisher is needed to finance the project. The problem at the moment is that the estimated amount of users of Vue (prepared to buy a book) is at the lower end of the limit to make it a viable proposition...maybe things will look better in a years time ;o) One problem I have had with the tutorials that I've had published, is to find something to actually teach readers that use Vue...Vue is too user friendly for those of us that also like to write about digital art, and the software used. In all fairness, it would be a lot easier to recommend a good Photography or Art Theory book, and maybe "Digital Lighting and Rendering" by Jeremy Birn ;o) Cheers

--------------- A life?! Cool!! Where do I download one of those?---------------
Most of the books that
I have come across,(in respect to graphic programs) COST, almost as much as the programs themselves..........so, I have to admit, I WILL NEVER buy them. Right now, I depend, and look to, the forums for Help(:
Yes, it would be nice to go to the bookstore and purchase
a "How-to" book on Vue...........but, what price do you want
to pay? I use Vue for fun, I spent the $200.00 to get the program, and really, I would NEVER, go to the bookstore, and Purchase a book on Vue for more then $25.00, US currency. That, would be my limit, but I have found THIS, Forum, the place to go, when it comes to problems or questions.
Who needs a book, when you have all the resourses available here? (:
Genny
You make a great point Genny, the forums and online tutorials are the most valuble resources available at the moment. Cheers

While you are talking about this, I have to say that in fact there is nothing for VUE ! of course we can find everything at renderosity... but a little something would be nice.
If you go at www.e-onsoftware.com there is nothing for the users of VUE. Be a picture of the day, download the latest update and that's it !
I don't understand why they don't include tutorials, tips and tricks on their website ! They could even copy/paste the tutorials made by Guitta, Martin, Varian and the others.
most of the beginners don't know how to use functions, how to replace materials on vegetation, how to avoid hours of rendering, how to optimize the working space, how to use Open GL with VUE, etc... they can come at renderosity of course but it would be more logical to go directly at www.e-onsoftware.com, don't you think ?
Moreover, It wouldn't be difficult for E-ON to release at least 1 free collection of new procedural materials. The standard materials and functions available in VUE 4 are not very good (nothing really new since VUE 2 !). A little gallery with free downloadable functions, materials and atmospheres for registered users is not asking too much...
It's great to be able to get a so powerful 3D software for a so small price, but e-on should keep it alive !
I have nothing to say against VUE4, it's just that sometimes I feel that all the others 3Dsoftwares (even freeware) have a website for their USERS, while the VUE website is only interesting for new CUSTOMERS.
I recently purchased Cinema 4D XL 7, and what you can get for it is amazing ! I'll need years to download all the free plug-ins and materials available at www.maxon.net...
most of these free stuff are done by the community of dedicate C4D users. VUE has also a nice community, so why not use it ? If e-on ask, I would be pleased to give them the tutorials I did, the procedural material and atmosphere I created... they would be at a better place at www.e-onsoftware than lost somewhere in Renderosity !
OK, I'll stop now otherwise Lynn and Steve will come...

The only reason to go to the E-on site is to get a program update after it's been mentioned here. The site itself and what's available hasn't changed in a long time. The extra vegetation still carries the "VUE 3 only" warning a year after the release of VUE 4. If you want something for VUE don't bother with E-on. Apart from that, there's only 1 (one) book on Poser 4 and if there was ever a waste of cash it's that one. The author is also writing the book on Poser 5, don't get your hopes up.

I've been looking and looking and still haven't found a book for Vue other than the manual. I see tons of books on 3DS Max, Lightwave, and even a couple on Maya and Truespace, but NONE on Vue... why is that? And is there anything in the works? If not, think we all can get together and come up with something?
