Just a note to let you know that issue 41 of Computer Arts will have a free full working version of truespace3se on the cd.

So does/Did the 3D Special that was released a short while ago. Doug

I had problems with it, so install it at your own risk. There's a missing opengl.dll file an even when I followed the instructions on the web site (apparently everyone had this problem), it still doesn't work. Good luck. Melanie

Did you download the opengl.exe file from www.3dlabs.com? Doug

If i remember rightly, just do a search on the cd and you will find the required file. VIDandCGI WhiteCrow3D

I did that. That's the instructions on the Computer Arts Magazine web site said to do, and it still didn't work. I'm thinking of installing the trueSpace 4 demo. Maybe that will fix it, since that's where the opengl.dll file is. Maybe there are other files missing besides that one. Melanie

Where in www.3dlabs.com can you download the opengl.exe file? All I find are drivers for their different cards.

I fixed this problem by finding the file on the CD and manually copying it into my Windows/System directory. The program opened up and seemed to work OK after that (all I've had time to try is a test render on some primitives).

Greg, that's what I did, but it still wouldn't work. I got one of those "performed an illegal operation" messages when I tried to open the program and it told me it would shut down (and it wasn't even open yet). I'm ready to give up on it. :-( Melanie
