Message671424.jpg I feel your pain ... I too cannot afford a cable modem.

Yep Thomas, noticed this too and it's only this site - other pages on other servers load quick. I have ISDN and usually I have no problem with the connection.

Cable modems are slow too. I think 'Rosity is hitting its maximum capacity for traffic.

Yes, but I am often here around 2-4 am PDT when there are fewer than 700 members logged in... and it is still slow! Painfully slow on dsl... so I can only imagine what loading pages is like for most members. One thing, I'm becoming fairly decent at Minesweeper. Can sometimes get in 2-3 games while waiting for a page to load. :( Carolly

Run time DNA has the same problems too.As far as i know they are hosted by the same company.Tried to dl some freestuff there, got a dlspeed about 6kb/sec, normally i have 60 to 80kb/sec there( the freebies are on the sever, not links like here)

I'm on dial-up and am zipping around right now when there are less than 1000 folks here, but really crawl when there are 1400.

BellaMorte ( ) posted Sat, 08 June 2002 at 7:37 AM

It could of been worse. I got here and was told that I had exceeded the bad login number of session per day. Only it was the first time I logged. 24 hours without getting in any of the sections here is pretty bad and makes reading this forum take ages. Goodness knows what happened.

for me it is slow too since yesterday. I have DSL and used to a fast connection to Renderosity, it is killing me...

Barbarellany ( ) posted Sat, 08 June 2002 at 11:01 AM

I have cable and it can be very slow here. I did find out with cable if just about everyone on your node is online at the same time speed drops, then add comming here at a peak hour becomes tedious - but still compared to dial up... I have been spoiled by the usual speed of cable so any slow down seems forever.

neurocyber ( ) posted Sat, 08 June 2002 at 6:00 PM

I'm glad it's not just me. Opera crashes and on all my other brousers Renderosity is slow it hurts. This never happened before Friday.

How many surfers at 18:00 ? prehaps hauksdottir is right.

praxis22 ( ) posted Sun, 09 June 2002 at 1:50 PM

It's been getting slower for a while, but after 8pm CET (6pm GMT) it crawls, it can take ages just to download a forum page, let alone one with lots of thumbs... I've just ordered DSL, should arrive/appear in two weeks, not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but doubtless I'll find a use :) later jb
