Subject: Global illumination.. very tricky

Hello Everybody. I too also received my copy of Carrara 2, and tried it over the weekend. Boy, is this global illumianation tricky.... What's with all these settings...? I got some OK, results but if it wasn't for the postings of Litst or Ringo I couldn't figure it out 100% percent by myself. What's up with the manual!! It reallly lacks info about GI. It's supposed to be under the "Scene effects" section but it skips it completely. (It's also under the rendering section, but it tells you to go to the scene effect sections and there's nothing there...) The manual is just a remake of Carrara 1 with some minor additions... Very disappointing... they should add some PDF addendum or something covering in more detail the Bones and Global Ilumination, in my opinion. Good software, by the way, just needs a little better manual. i shouldn't need to buy a Carrara Bible or Carrara for Dummies book to complement the manual... Kixum, great work taking over the forum,. Good luck everybody! : )

mmmh... I just checked the help files and there was a tutorial about GI, and the other new functions (bones, caustics, subdivision). They were quite good.. I stand corrected. manual so so. Tutorials good. Any way. Check them out they are quite helpful especially the two for character animations.

Glad you like the tutorials. My little contribution to the CS2 box. :-) Ringo
