Subject: What does "texture changes apply to entire figure". mean?

I have Poser 4 with the patch Poser_402WIN_116.zip . When I change a material's color or etc, there is an option box labeled "texture changes apply to entire figure". What does that mean? It doesn't seem to change anything in my Poser. If it is selected, does it mean that that color or etc change applies to all the figure rather than to that one material? That doesn't happen on my Poser, at least in the quick render. If it should, has it been put right in the latest patch? If so, it would be useful, so I could quickly change the whole figure's KdColor to white {255,255,255} so that a color texture map could be applied unaffected by KdColors.

Actually, it only affects texture, bump, trans and reflect maps and their settings. Material colors and transparency/highlight settings are unchanged. It does make it easy to apply a texture to the entire figure though.
