We had a gully washer today, and lost power. So after the rain was over, I was sitting in my hot, dark house and decided to take my camera out and see what I could find to shoot. Came across this frog sunning himself after the rain.

That's really a neat frog! #1 somehow looks wistful; waiting for a princess? #2 is quite dramatic!

Since I don't go for Princes and my wife might get jealous, I didn't kiss it. Besides he was shy. Thanks for the kind comments. --Randy R

Great shots Randy, especially the previously commented on reflection of the 2nd shot, but I love the colour of the water behind the also excellent shot no 1. :-)>

Thanks everyone. S/he was patient, but as I was moving in for a real close up, s/he jumped into the water. I am going to keep my eye out for s/he, I have never seen a frog colored as this one. --Randy R

Amazing s/he stayed there so long! My son (frog expert?) says it's a regular Bullfrog, but I've only heard them and seen them jump. Never got a great view like this.

randyrives ( ) posted Tue, 09 July 2002 at 2:26 PM

I have seen other Bullfrogs in my koi pond before, but they have been all green. In fact there was another frog I was taking a picture of, when I noticed this one. The other one jumped away before I could get a good shot. I think your son is right, just never seen the colors like this one. --Randy R

Wow, what detail! Love how the bright green of the frogs face/head blends to a darker greenish brown towards the body...then its belly is white with the camoflage markings! Nature sure has a way with colors!!! L8r!

Second shot is awesome

Nice frogs Randy, #2 is a very pictorial you could try a crop from the left just to take the subject off centre and improve the composition. This would do well in camera club competion. :O)
