Hi all, Just put up a new one that I would really like to have some comments on :) http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=215325 Is there a way to apply laser style beams within Poser? I suppose a rod with the proper colors, transparency , and lighting would work?

a somewhat transparent cylinder with a nice neon color applied to the Ambient color in the Materials would work good. With low lighting, it makes the object seem to glow

Thanks much on the cylinder thing--yes, that's kind of what I was thinking---just messed with it a bit...looks pretty good :) Next image coming... Can't wait for P5 with all the new features...its going to be awesome.

Here's my try. cylinder, scaled down tiny and then y-axis scaled out much. Sparks are Anton's FX. No postwork.

I like those sparks...great touch

You can also get a neat look by putting one cylinder inside another and varying the transparency. I actually just whipped up this prop. Its a single object with a gradient transparency map for the outer ring and a more solid piece in the center. You can have a different color inside and out.
