Hello :)

I followed an online tutorial for moving Poser 4 characters to Carrara 2 with textures. The character and textures came over, however the transparency for the eyelashes did not.

I opened the transparency file used by Poser 4 for the eyelashes and found that there are a number of transparency maps and some texture maps (eyes, fingernails) in the same JPG file.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix the eyelashes?

Thanks in advance,
Brian Wheatley

I don't have C2, so I can't advise, but where is the tutorial? If you search this forum's old messages, there are some descriptions and examples of how to do Poser eyebrow, eyelash, eye and hair transparency in C1 using mixers, dating back to a message from Antoine Clappier in 2000:
" In Carrara, you would:

  • Create a shader that define the texture of your object (color, shininess,
    etc)
  • Create a 100% transparent shader
  • Mix the two using a multichannel mixer and put the texture map in the
    blender."

Here is the tutorial that I mentioned... I'll browse around and see if I can find these messages. Brian

Here's a link to a new tutorial for poser to Carrara 2 using Grouper which also works well for importing into Bryce. It's written by Craig at CastIronFlamingo and answers all the questions you have. http://www.castironflamingo.com/tutorial/index.html

THank you Patrick for the link to the Grouper/Poser tutorial. This works so much better for me on the hair than any method I was using before! I am very grateful! I need to send off an email of thanks to Craig as well for the great information and program. JDexter

I wonder if anyone ever imported animated poser figure (multiple obj files) in Carrara2? Waldoo
