Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 06 7:01 am)
Well, I for one will try to give any updates as soon as I can. However, for those of you who keep expecting some "miracle" from Siggraph, my recommendation is don't have any high expectations for immediate gratification. As I posted recently, the best we can likely expect is that Curious Labs will officially annouce and demonstrate Poser 5, but that the actual release is still several months away. If you look at all of the other big players, they have already made their annocements prior to Siggraph, and they will be demonstaring their wares there (3DS Max 5, Maya 4.5...) Curious Labs has not released any official PR regarding Poser 5, and no advertising has yet shown up in the trade or consumer publications. I fully believe they will have the program on display, but we still have a few months for the actual release. Noone releases a product without any prior advertising/notice. Just an FYI.
I did not know SIGGRAPH was in SD next year. Probably because I'm unable to attend :( this year (for the 1st time in seven years) so I guess I just haven't been paying attention. I'm so jazzed to hear this news. S.D. is my home town (well I wasn't born there but it's home to me... I went to college there and after graduation, decided to stay and work in that beautiful city for a decade. Wow! My boyfriend lives there too, so now I won't have to worry about lodging for the course of the show. Kewwwwl bonus. Thanks for the news EricofSD... You made my day. : ) Cheers! Pam

Next week is Siggraph. We don't know quite what Curious Labs is going to do or say there... although we have our suspicions. ;^) I think that Renderosity and 3dCommune are among the other exhibiters (it's been a week since I've checked the listings). I'd like wish good luck and a good time for everyone going. Even if the floodwaters won't affect the area around the exhibit halls, galoshes and rubber duckies might be appropriate attire. We'll be hoping for pictures! Carolly
